I tried to prevent my cat from jumping across the balcony like that because I was about to leave. Prevented his smooth jump and caused him to miss, shorted it by a few inches and thumped down to the 1st floor pavement. Looked up at me, and then started sniffing bushes like it was nothing.
Cats bounce pretty well.
