Speaking of healing, how is Miss Logan doing, @Scrap? I hope she's closer to getting back to her glorious orange self!
She has a Vet check Tuesday, stitches out on Friday if all is well. Hoping she''ll lose the collar because she looks so sad wearing it - and she hates her medicine and every evening it's a fight to administer it. Thank you for your concern.

Ugh...it's rough, I know. It sounds like maybe the hardest part is over, though? Is her medicine in pill form or liquid? My cat broke his hip when he was 2, and it was a looong recovery. The day I discovered he would eat his food with the liquid medicine in it was a game changer, but it was still a long couple of months. I
basically lived in the bedroom with him for a few months with my bed frame in the dining room and my mattress on the floor. Before he was properly healed he slipped out the door and ran around the neighbor's house and ran up the back stairs of our house, limping badly. That set us back another month. I sat on the floor of the kitchen and cried ugly tears of frustration. Hopefully the vet visit goes well and the cone can go bye-bye!

Our new previously-stray cat Mercer has inexplicably become best friends with our big orange boy Apollo. Mercer is intact, Apollo is neutered. They're both about 5 years old, both aggressive, territorial, very possessive of us, and big time scrappers. Apollo takes on all comers in Oakland all over the neighborhood, and Mercer is a larger-than-life physical presence, very "alpha male" and constantly getting into it with the cat down the road. Why these two have become best friends instead of tearing each other apart is beyond me. They are pretty much inseparable. I told Eric we need to get them one of those BFF heart necklaces that is in two halves for each friend to wear. We could hang them on their collars :laughing Mercer even gets along with Mae, our tiny 11 year old girl. He tried to get in her face early on and she backed him down PDQ, and he hasn't messed with her since. Smart boy. She's tiny but she's a hellion when needs must.
Anyway, a few funky phone photos of the new BFFs!

Now let's see if we can fold Sundae into the family as seamlessly as we did Mercer. Wish us luck!

Think we need an orange cat next...

I call them my weird orange boys (Simon and Harley) but love them all the same

This post is worthless without photos! :x

Here's an oldie but a goodie of my orange boy Apollo. It always makes me laugh! He was playing in the debris left behind when our creek flooded...IMG_4308.jpeg

Cal, a local stray I bonded with about 3 years ago. He is a member of a colony by Coyote Creek near the San Jose Flea Market. The little sod took nine months to let me be his touch friend. He is a beauty.
