PSA: My motorcycle sale gone wrong - Embezzlement

Z3n... By the OP's own statements it $600 not $300. My point is not that $600 vs. $300 should have any impact on your opinion of Dove's action's. The fact that the smaller details presented are not always retained and presented back accurately might, to some give pause that maybe the information told and retold is now no longer a reflection of what actually occurred. Maybe there is more to the story than you have access to or can recall accurately. Thus the best means and place to dispute the facts is indeed in court between the OP and Dove as opposed to Barf.

Reaching a conclusion based on only half the story is maybe not the best approach.

Please let me take $700 off of SALE price and give you the parts i won't need instead.

When given the chance, he opted to not even do this.... As it turns out as I understand those who konw, he did not leave anywhere during the weekend outlined below, and the fairings were already on sale, by Dove, elsewhere. Nothing like selling stolen property to pay back the person you stole from...

Wow... (text transcript attached)

Guys, you know better. :facepalm

:wave

So, what have I missed? :laughing

Nice, overly trusting woman lets a 30+ year old jobless loser take a brand new R6 on the promise to 'pay when he can'; shockingly, he doesn't pay on time, stops communicating and keeps the bike. BARF goes wild.

I agree 100%, and I absolutely wish that Dove would come forward and clear his name. I do believe that there is probably a lot more to the story, but sometimes the devil in the details isn't significant compared to the major points.

I have held from my very first post in this thread that the mob mentality is a BAD THING and that we should let the courts sort this out, that any talk of Hell's Angels and vigilante justice is going to hurt horsepower's case. My hope from this thread was that a little exposure would help Dove step forward and say "Hey, I fucked up, I thought I could make it all work and I failed. Here's your bike back with a clean bill of health, I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused, and hopefully we can put this all behind us.", or prove somehow that he's got evidence that he is still within the terms of their agreement or paid the full asking price for the bike.

However, it appears that the latter options are unlikely, and that the best Horsepower can hope for at this point is the return of her bike with some more mileage on it.

everyone, stop typing such big replies on the internet. 53 pages of replies, really? and no one has thought to just go GET the bike?

Connie herself said she could "take him". So come on, since you guys are all talk... lets see something happen!

Bravo.

#1, is 408.513.4321 Larry's or Chris Dove's number?

#2. it kinda reads like Dani sold the fairings to Larry and told Larry the fairings were with Chris. But maybe it's the residue of last night's NyQuil and Tylenol PM.

#3. We ought to throw Chris Dove a belated 30th birthday party. 30 spankings from each of us should get some sense into him. :laughing

Why oh why did you just post this about 30 pages ago :laughing

Seriously, this is a freakin' mess. Looks like the outcome will be that he gets to somehow keep the bike and Dani learns one hell of a lesson.

This sucks, it really, really sucks.

I've never met Roundboy but he's one hell of a good guy just going by his posts here. (and the fact that Connie says so:thumbup)

Hoping for a happy ending.:teeth

1: 408 is not Larry
2: Buying for a friend that hit a Turkey. Knew Dani had a set that were available. Was told that Chris still had them but should be in process of removing.
3: Paid for set, was given Chris's number, told to coordinate pick up as they should be ready, or nearly ready,
4: Contacted Chris. Asked for goods he declined.
5: Contacted Dani, Um WTF? Dude will not work with me.
6: Payment returned.
7: Obtained different set through secondary seller.

Opportunity to get 700$ funneled to Dani declined. Says volumes about intentions no?

+1

Roundboy IS one hell of a guy, and I'd trust him to watch my back ANY day :thumbup

Amidst all this hyberbole and conjecture, much of which seems to be foaming from the mouths of peeps who've never even met Chris and know nothing beyond this somewhat rancid thread....

I've known Chris a number of years since meeting him at the first barf meet he attended just after he moved to SF. And, with no illusions that any opinion of mine could impact the lynch-mob-like head of steam this thread has gathered [if anything, being me, it might not be much of a help Chris :laughing] I get the impression there are pertinant details missing from this whole whacked story. The mind of details that have a way of balancing the scale instead of tipping it so heavily to one side.

I like Chris, he's done right by me in a number of ways and if no one else sees fit to come out in his corner, I gladly will.

Let the OP and Chris work out this issue, if indeed a true issue exists, sans the know-nothing peanut gallery.

[getting into my flame suit now]

In the most simplistic terms, Chris bough a bike and agreed to pay the full amount by the date recorded in the contract.

Chris has not paid that amount.

That seems to be the reality of it. It's a transaction gone bad. HP needs to stop posting and start acting. I haven't read every post in detail so I'm not sure if she has already filed in small claims or waiting but that is likely her best option. As stated earlier, followed by a garnished wages.

To be fair, a 30year old with no job and sleeping on any available sofa likely won't care about the judgement against him thus you'll need to find a way to reposses the property and take him to small claims for usage/damages.

I've known Dove for a number of years as well.

I've offered my place for him to stay, I've ridden with him at trackdays, I've raced with him. I would like nothing more than to see Horsepower post up and say "Hey, Dove came by, dropped off the bike, made things right by me, and we're good". The fact is, he's had the chance to do that plenty of times, and he hasn't yet. All he would have had to do is post up "hey, the bike is here. Come get it", there are plenty of volunteers who would have taken care of it for him.

I can understand why he wouldn't post up here, the internet is a fickle place, and lynch mobs are easily formed.

What I can't understand is why he would violate the terms of the contract he wrote and agreed to, and then refuse to return the bike after that. Regardless of any of the other stuff surrounding the situation, this never would have happened if he would have just returned the bike after he realized he couldn't pay for it.

I thought Dove was a good guy. Unfortunately, he's not acting like one here.

You wouldn't be able to talk him into either returning the bike as close as possible to its original condition, or paying for the bike he's had since August, would you?

She has. She needs the courts to rule so she can repossess the bike, and then after that if there are any damages to it, she's going to need to go through the court to get him to pay up there.

Taking him to court may backfire on her as well. This thread may be good cause for a defamation, slander, libel, etc. lawsuit seeing as he is no longer working with 4theriders as a result of it, has had his safety publicly threatened, blah blah blah.....

It's not "defamation, slander, libel, etc." if it's true.
