To the people who seem to think two sportbikes going 80 mph on Skyline is "just having some fun", I ask this - what do you think about sports cars going 80 mph on Skyline?
I think it's kinda slow, but then, sometimes I'm just not in that fast mode you know?
I'll try to keep it above 80 just for you, when I'm there in my car, but the view is nice, so I can't promise that I won't slow down to 80 to do some sightseeing...
What I really think is that absolute speed is meaningless, it's each rider choosing to ride within their abilities, and with some room for error, or choosing to throw caution to the wind.
At the end of the day, if I hurt someone doing what I do...it's on me. It's unlikely the state would let me just walk away if I did, but even if the state, and the victim's family did, I would still have to be able to live with myself. Some people I guess can BS themselves easily, I cannot. It's important enough to me to not hurt someone fucking around that I'm willing to crash badly to avoid it...but I find just being prudent and careful about speeding like a maniac to have worked well so far. In fact, far better than I ever would have thought.
In fact it's worked so well that the only way that I can possibly see traffic deaths and injuries being reduced is if people start wanting to be more careful.
Judging by what I see while commuting, that isn't going to happen.
40,000 deaths a year on the roads...people just don't care. And when they do, they think Big Brother is the one to save them? NO!!! IT'S YOU!!!!!
As far as communicating to other moto riders? Always a good thing. Better safe than sorry, X2 at elevated speeds.
