Qustions about SF parking

Correct I live in Sacramento rarely go to San Francisco. The situation that needed an expedited passport did not arise so I will just go through the normal channels, so I can go another few years before I have to go into the city:laughing
Thanks again everyone

There is an app called Park the Bike. It shows you all the motorcycle parking spots in the city. I have it for iPhone, but it might be available for Android as well.

Replying to my own message, because Park the Bike is apparently no longer available in the Apple app store. But Park My Wheels is, and it looks like it does the same thing.

If you need to travel for business purposes a letter from your employer will do the trick.

Given that the state of things, I would keep a passport handy. The White House is starting to change the rules to prevent people from getting passports.

I rarely go into San Francisco so Fast Trak is not worth me having. So to clarify if I go through the FasTrak Lane, will I get a fine or will they just send me the bill for the normal charge?
I'm totally unfamiliar with SF...... the address is 450 Golden Gate Avenue.... just trying to find the best/safest place to park..... San Francisco does not have the best reputation right now!

For 450 Golden Gate, you can park on the street or in a lot. I worked in that building for years and didn't have a problem parking on the street, even though it's a rough neighborhood.

For street parking, there are some spots on Golden Gate Avenue, right across from the building. If those are full, there is motorcycle parking on the street on McCallister, or on Polk across from City Hall or one block east and south of the building outside of UC Hastings. I've parked in all of those spots without a problem, but that doesn't mean it's safe. Someone could easily mess with your bike and there are lots of sketchy people around. I wouldn't risk parking a motorcycle anywhere north of the building.

If you're primarily concerned about your moto's safety, you can park underground in the Civic Center lot. The entrance in on McAllister between Polk and Larkin. Call to check their daily motorcycle rates. https://www.sfmta.com/garages-lots/civic-center-garage. I parked there for years. The motorcycles are near the exit and are within eyeshot of the parking attendants. No one will mess with your bike. It's one block from the garage to 450 Golden Gate.

For passports, the line to get into 450 Golden Gate can sometimes be long. Give yourself extra time if you're trying to get to an appointment. Do not bring a knife or a screwdriver or toolkit or anything of the sort -- it's a federal building. It's airport-level security.

Those are some very specific circumstances; owing more than $50k in back taxes shouldn't impact very many law abiding barfers...
