I’m supposed to do a track day in September with a friend of mine, but his R6, which has a 2009 engine built by a shop up in Oregon, now has a rod-knocking noise. “Bang”, loss of power. Is there a reputable shop in the greater Bay Area that you would recommend to inspect/diagnose/tear...

Finding a good used engine and swapping it into your friend’s bike would be one hell of a lot cheaper than having someone rebuild what he has.

Or, simply buy another motorcycle.
 
Methnks that merging these two threads would be helpful.
