Tank sliders to keep the R6 gas tanks from rupturing in a crash

... Considering that a crashing R6 lit on fire the haybales in front of my turn box at last years AMA race, I am all for them!!!

haybales + race fuel + less-than-effective fire bottles = rapid conflagration!!

The picture of that in the last RRW was excellent, BTW. :thumbup

Are there any pictures available anywhere on the net :nerd

I love when you see someone put patent pending to slow people down when already 3 people are making them...

749 tank did not slam on ground, you have to give ducati credit for taking crashes well.I got feeling they knew in Italy how frequently they will slide down the road :laughing

Had the unfortunate lowside incident at Sears 2 weeks ago where I tested the Traxxion sliders...sliders slid and cracked, but did their job. The tank isn't even scratched! :thumbup

Jb welded the crack pieces back together and the slider is good to go again...A MUST for the R6...the slide was long enough where I think it would have definitely ruptured the gas tank or even worse.

The tank WILL touch the ground too much in a lowside, no question about that...the sliders saved a lot of damage and headache!:party

So let's see how long it takes the AFM to make them mandatory.

Seems like if you want your bike to burn to the ground it is on you no?
:)

I would love to see a close up pic of the one mounted... not what the site's are showing but a close up.. could they be made out of aluminum? Maybe thin stuff?

How about not burning up other racers/riders when you crash? That's just as important.

Saw two or three burn up in AMA this year and only one times di it doe mor ethan burn the bike up... A little grass at Infineo got burned up... I want them I just say it should not be manditory IMO....

dont worry, afm will have its own rule for it.
if it burns it will be $50 fine.second time it happens you out for season.

Yes I have seen a few companies make them out of plastic.. delrin usually does not brake as I use that alot in my shop for minibike stuff. I was saying coudl a aluminum one be made.. I should have been more clear. plastic molded (as they appear to be) breaks easily usually.
