Rawhyde "Intro To Adventure"

just happen to have a brief vid clip Mr Guoseph took of my technique, maybe you can critique it?

what I don’t do enough of, maybe, is parking lot practice drills for balance-point, u-turns, etc… be interested to hear if you took away any at-home drills you’ve continued with? nice new avatar, btw, and thanks for the cool thread!

I stole the avatar from some corner of the internet. Someone drew that WITH A PENCIL. Yet another reminder that I’m a no-talent hack.

Not only will I not try to draw eyeballs with pencils, I won’t try to judge anyone’s riding, least of all based on short YouTube clips. My only criticism, and this is a pretty big one, is, Why was I not invited? Gorgeous location!

I’ve been riding figure eights because getting the bike down low while weighting one peg is NOT baked in yet. I really have to pre-plan those maneuvers. The other valuable skill we used all weekend long was keeping the clutch in the friction zone, keeping the rpms steady while adjusting the clutch and throttle for power. This one is coming a bit more naturally but is still not yet reflex. I can do this stuff in my driveway so I will spend a couple minutes with it whenever I come or go.

man, can’t believe that’s a pencil drawing, so awesome ... :thumbup

I see I missed the joke in the last line of your post. :facepalm

anyway, you were totally invited on the vid ride, it was StonyBARF 13, guess we were all invited. :laughing:gsxrgrl

here’s a personal invitation to the next one:
OMG StonyBARF 15 April 28 to May 1

the figure 8s and especially the friction-zone clutch drills would improve my riding, for sure. just gotta do it and drill regularly, not sure why I don’t. :rolleyes

Great writeup.

$1500 a weekend, that's CRAZY MONEY to me. That's more than an entire semester of tuition cost me at a community college.

Like I said, I’m a cheapskate. I feel like that should be considered crazy money to ANY normal person, no matter how fat the trust fund. And the $1.5k is just the beginning.

Great write up and thoroughly entertaining!
Good luck on the CA BDR and kudos for investing in skills Rawhyde should really comp you your next class or at the least offer a 50% discount, can’t buy advertising like you just gave them.

Thanks! Much appreciated! :) :ride

mjj,

Great write up!
I was thinking about taking this course back in November but the timing didn't work out. How were the accommodations? the website didn't have any photos or really say anything about it other than that it was included with the price.
