I came across these heavily-discounted boots in a uniform supply store. Although I didn't really need an extra pair of boots, I couldn't pass up on a deal.

More than two years later, these Redbacks remain the most comfortable pair of work boots I've ever owned. The soles show little wear and are grippy as hell. Although not advertised as waterproof or water-resistant, they're the boots I grab when a storm blows in.

These aren't motorcycle boots by any stretch of the imagination, but could work on your favorite bike in a pinch.

Made in Australia, unlike the similar Blundstones, which are now outsourced to China. And, no, they ain't cheap.

Disclaimer -- I have no financial interest in Redback, etc., just want to pass the word to my fellow Barfers. :)

I have owned 3 pair of Redbacks over the years, the last pair I wore everyday for OVER 6 years, they are soooo comfortable. I have to get another pair because my current boots are completely shot....but again, that is after 6 years wearing them at least 6 days a week and never touching them with any cleaning products of any kind. Great product. I did always put some gel inserts in them to kick up the comfort level. Have had both regular and steel toe versions...The steelies were a bit heavier and less comfortable for daily use....so they became my XR50 riding boots. The regular toe versions are light, easy to get on and off and last a long, long time.:thumbup. Best shoes I have ever owned. Acid and oil resistant, slip on and off (because they were designed to be used by people that work with hazardous materials) quickly for work safety. This is also their weakness as a riding boot...usually you want a lace up boot for riding so if you fall they don't fly off.....but I rode regularly in mine...even T-boned a car and they stayed on my feet!

Just one more pitch -- I've worn these boots the past couple of days in the rain, walking 10 minutes to & from BART, and they're completely dry. As I've said before the soles have incredible grip: up slippery escalators and wet sidewalks, these Redbacks work great in extreme weather. :thumbup
