Remember Zima?

Don't see the point of drinking wines and beers in a world with a rich selection of whisky.

Sound like my dad. He litterally does not "understand" wine and beer. In his words 'It takes you too long to get tanked'. He's irish and I've never seen him drink beer or wine, only gin, whiskey, God awful canadian mist.

Nothing beats this stuff ...

Remember Zima? Clear Malt Beverage Is Poised for Comeback

Zima could be coming back zoon. MillerCoors is poised to reintroduce the 1990s-era clear malt beverage that was once advertised as "zomething different."

Beer Business Daily on Thursday reported that the brand is already in distributor warehouses and will "allegedly be offered for a limited time only." A MillerCoors spokesman told Ad Age that "more news [is] coming soon" and that "if you're one of the zillion fans who have missed Zima, the answer should be clear."

Originally owned by Coors, the malt beverage surged out of the gate in the early 1990s, before falling on hard times. It was eventually discontinued in the U.S. several years ago, but is still sold in Japan.

In a 2012 interview with Ad Age , Pete Coors -- now the vice chairman of the board of directors for MillerCoors owner Molson Coors -- explained why Zima hit the skids after a successful debut.

"We decided to do Zima Gold, which was a huge disaster," Mr. Coors said. "And then we decided to take the nice fluted bottle and make it into a generic bottle. We killed the brand, frankly." He added: "We got too clever by half [with] marketing." Of course, the "marketing guys will tell you that it was somebody else's fault," he said with a laugh.

One of Zima's early ads (below) showed two guys ordering it in a bar -- and not quite figuring out what it is.

LOL, my buddy Mark works for a Marketing Agency and he actually came up with the name for that product.

Why? Oh, yeah, Trump: Anybody who drank that cool-aid will drink this piss. Probably a big market for it now : |

By the time I started drinking, Zima wasn't a thing anymore.

I've never had one. To be honest, I didn't know there was alcohol in it. I thought Zima was just a soda.

In HS we got Zima for the girls...

I miss Henry Weinhards (SP), it could be member berries but I 'member it was pretty good.

Is it still around?

Sadly they no longer sell it in stores.

Old article so I don't the status of the Taverns. Right before they stopped selling it, I was getting this Pacific Northwest style brew @ Target. It was one of my favorites. Then one day I went to pick up more and it was gone. :(:mad

Cisco anyone?

I have a fond memory of ending up in a pile of sweaty girls in the basement of my college roommates parents house in Richland (Hi Fred!)

Kinda odd getting scolded in the nude, by his mother, while hungover.:laughing
