I was cleaning my zx10 the other day and decided I wanted to remove the two 'ninja' stickers on the front fairings. Some initial attempts to do so proved useless as the bike is an '05 and those stickers are pretty stuck on there.

I did some googling and came across this article here:

http://motorcyclecruiser.automotive.com/31469/remove-stickers-from-paint/index.html

It sounds intriguing and effective, but I wanted to check with some other members here if the method sounds safe (I would stick to using a hair dryer for warming it up, as an FYI).

Particularly, is WD40 safe for use on the plastics?

WD is fine. However, you might want to make sure the stickers on the farings are not covered with a clear coat.

don't do it quite yet...but i heard a hairdryer or something hot will get the sticker loose and peel, that's if theres no clear coat or it's not simply painted on

works great on knee pucks as well :teeth

The only clear coated stickers are the ones on your tank, all others can come off with a heat gun, if done carefully. I've done this a number of times. Heat gun and a razor blade and you're set!

i wanted to take off the the flame stickers from my 2007 ninja 250. i got a hair dryer and a PLASTIC putty knife(the plastic wont scratch the paint). it took me 3hrs and my finger tips were really sore but it was worth it. and i also used goo gone to take the sticky stuff off. after all that i suggest getting a sponge with a little soap and wipe down the bike. then wipe it down again with just a water sponge.

If they're not clearcoted, squirt this on, wait a bit, and lift carefully with a razor blade.

Quick and easy. Look, ma, no stickers!

I stick (pardon the pun) to the heat gun/hair dryer method, I don't trust my shakey hands with a razor blade around something painted.

Make sure you don't confuse "Goo Gone" with "Goof Off". They're both packaged in the same shape, size and label style. One will get rid of the adhesive goo, the other will strip the paint right off that fairing panel. DAMHIKIJK

Thanks for the input guys!

Yeah, the only ones covered in clear coat are the 'Kawasaki' on the tank, which I am leaving. The ones I am referring too are not covered in clear coat.

Good to know WD is safe!

From a professional: Avoid the razor blade unless you are very patient and have a very steady hand. :2cents
