I checked out some open houses in Danville, San Ramon sunday all $950K-$1.1mil. All had issues.

And vast majority are lame ranches built in the 60's and 70's..........no character whatsoever

I could buy them for $175-200K in the midwest

Plus, rentals? Not sure why you guys think you "must" pay $2500-3500 to live in the BA. You can easily find something for only 1500-2000 in my area, and take BART to work from Walnut Creek or Dublin. And you'd have parking, AND wouldn't need a roommate either.

That is more than my mortgage for a 2,400 sqft house on an acre in the Sierra Nevada foothills, not to mention that kind of monthly output for housing would buy you some unbelievable living accommodations in a huge portion of the U.S. The Bay Area isn't that special, to pay that much for housing, it's just full of special people that pay too much to live in a crowded city. :twofinger

Well there is an explanation for that. Who teh hell would want to live in San Jose!

Live in SF, like in a real city or sumtin. Or maybe Boastan. ;)

Yeah that's BS. :twofinger
I guess you're afraid of SF people, you might call them "special people" but otherwise I'm not sure what would be the outrage. :dunno

In *reality* it is basically some kind of a pyramid scheme--basically the house prices are already high, so whoever is in, is in. That's how much they charge, end of story!!!
The others don't really have a choice sometimes.

Same for Danville really--whoever is in, is in. Prices are really really high--Some people I know from SF tried to buy there and gave up.

OK, the New Yohkers say Boastan while Allstonians actually say Bahston. ;)

New Yawkers. Sometimes abbreviated to Nyackers or "those fuckin' assholes".

The Allstonians aren't real people* object as they might, they're still just a part of Boston. They still have tolls in their town, which is the only reason anyone would stop there.

Other than the aberrations of words you've used in this thread, I've never heard it called Boastan. You probably misheard someone saying what was holding up their boat.

*except for the ska band-they're alright

Where does one get health insurance for $1,200 a year?

Sure you didn't mean $12,000?

really? between my wife and I we pay <$2000 annually in FULL healthcare. I have a Cadillac Kaiser plan where I pay nothing for in network events

my wife has a PAMF Cadillac plan where she pays nothing for in network

If you're W2 and you're spending $1k a month on health care?!? I'd question what your seat cost really is to your employer.

Little over $800 here. Employer pays 80% of my personal premium, I'm paying the full ride for the rest of the family.

Dude, I'm paying $460 every two weeks for a PPO for me, my wife and my 2 kids. $920 a month for at best what could be described as catastrophic coverage. I think my deductible is $6K. You have a fucking unicorn.
