Resume question

..

2 pages is acceptable innit? In the past I always thought 2 was ok when interviewing people but when I got 3 + pages resumes from candidates I would think overdone and they went to my thumbs down pile. But that's just me.

What say you?

It'd depend on the field. I only know software engineering.

Post-2005, I don't really know the page counts for most candidates. This is because resumes comes to me in text.

The thing is, I never have the time to really do a good interview. I only read their resumes about 1 or 2 minutes before a phone screen interview and 10 minutes before each onsite interview and then some of it during the interview (when asking questions about background).

So if the resume is long, be sure to put the impressive stuff first or it'll never get read (or tested upon) during interview.

From real humans in a related field, or recruiter? Either I can't stand linkedin, or everyone I'm connected to is an idiot. I get people I don't know wanting to link, or I get acquaintances recommending skill sets that I don't have, which we really know is about reciprocation. It seemed more work related years ago, now it just seems like basefook.

I hardly ever accept a LinkedIn contact I don't know. The only endorsements I've given are ones nobody would want. I endorsed people for jiu jitsu (he’s never taken a class but he likes watching the UFC), pie eating, beer chugging...

.

Which text file format is best for preserving bullet points, spacing, etc?

LinkedIn is amazing. I get literally 6 messages a week asking if I am interested in applying for jobs.

In what field?

I see nothing wrong with endorsing people, as long as you know for a fact they've performed that skill. What I don't understand is people who refuse to reciprocate. It only takes 10 seconds. So either they're lazy, don't know how to do it, or there's something else I'm not understanding. :wtf

I hardly ever accept a LinkedIn contact I don't know.

I get people requesting a connect just because they read a comment I made under an article. Or just because they went to the same school I did (with 30,000+ students). I've also gotten Chinese women in the electronics "trade industry" requesting a connect, probably because they want to build inroads into that industry here.
