Hi there.

Any tips/leads for a rider-to-rider intercom? I mean, 2 riders talking to each other.

Thanks,

Marc.

Thanks the tip, Ladies.

Sarah, can you understand the other person alright, or do you feel you have to guess? How was the installation? Did the 150-meter distance hold true, or did you have to stay much closer to talk?

Thanks again,

Marc.

Lionserpent and I attempted to use the Chatterbox bluetooth thing for the Hawthorn ride but found it cut out badly when we traveled over 60mph. When slow (in town sort of stuff) it was fine. Also it doesn't automatically switch from listening to your mp3/iphone/phone to listening to the other rider so if they want to talk to you and you're jamming out then they're SOL.

Look into the Scala Rider Q2, or the Chatterbox XBI-2. They both have acceptable ranges (ballpark of 500 feet), are compact in size, and are compatible with Bluetooth.

Hey Marc,
I could understand the other rider just fine and at a pretty good distance as long as we were in each other's line of sight. The only time we got cut off was if there was a big barrier between us (ie going around a curve with a big cliff or hill between us). My helmet has a lot of road noise, in general, at higher speeds and it did become more difficult to hear then - but the other rider has a quieter helmet and didn't have trouble understanding me even at 75+ mph. After I popped in some ear plugs and put on a bandanna around my neck and chin to block some wind - I didn't have any trouble. Installation was very straightforward - getting it set up is a little complicated, but not hard as long as you follow the instructions. I haven't tried the phone capabilities, so can't comment on that, but we're very satisfied with it's performance and ease of use as an intercom.

Here's my communications system

currently have motorola hs830 helmet BT headsets. Waiting patiently for the new scala g4. Supposed to have double the range of the q2

My friend and I ended up buying the throat mics. They work with the talkabouts and also I got an adapter for my iPhone. Haven't had time to test them out while riding, but did test them out while reving the bike . Person on the other side said they could hear me clearly and didn't even know I started the bike. Btw, I have the Scorpion Exhaust with the baffle out...

So I received the Scala Cardo Q2 multi set. They are amazing. My friend and I just took them out on our first test ride and they worked flawlessly. We could communicate on the freeway at 80 mph fairly clearly. At lower speeds and around town it was as if we were talking face to face. It was suer easy to install and is light weight. I would highly recommend this system.
