Riding w/ one eye.

I dun gotta piece of metal in my eyeball once, 'n had ta ride over 30 mi. ta da dr. and it wuz tough, cuz I had no depth perception, 'n my good eye wuz blink'in profusely.
They ripped the metal out, and ground away the rust spot, then I had to wear an eye patch for a couple weeks. In just a few days I was able to adjust, and felt relatively comfortable ride'in. :ride
Isn't the DMV sight test with one eye anyway? Hell, I say you're fine.

However, I would recommend relocating the one good eye to the center of your head just to be certain.

GLWE.
The dmv is an irrelevant leper colony, they don't know the first thang 'bout ride'in, driving, or anything for that matter.

My nephew has one eye. His concern is dept perception and says he will never ride a moto due to it. He drives no problem so I guess if you really wanted too it would be OK.

If a blind guy is shooting for a 100 foot jump, I think those with an eye can do it:

Let the man ride. You never know. He may be a better rider with one eye than a lot of us, me included of course.

Eric was able to get under two minutes at Thill with vision in one eye. He raced several seasons with the AFM.

If only I was that fast. Give me 3 eyes and I swear, I could break 2 minutes.

I know two people who've lost one eye and both of them are better riders than I am.

All of the people who've said it can't/shouldn't be done are speaking from inexperience.

+1

One of my staff lost an eye and has been riding for the past 20 years with just his right eye - and he is one of the better riders I know :thumbup

Now I am intrigued by the answers one might get had the topic been: Riding with one testical.

My father in law has been completely blind in one eye since he was 7. He became an expert skier, has probably chainsawed 10,000 trees, and has never had a car accident. Granted, he is a conservative guy, but my point is that over a lifetime his brain has completely compensated for the lack of stereoscopic depth perception and the "blind spot." So your friend should give it a try.

You know I've been riding for quite some time with no testicles. I do OK.

I was hoping for answers along the line of "No, no, no, no... My Dad is an engineer, and he says you'll need a counter-balance nut!"

Hi all,

My friend was able to go ride on his own after reading this thread. I rode with him again on another day and he did very well.

Thanks again everyone.
