Passed away at 70 years old...

Story

He looks like a cross between Rod Stewart and a Bay City Roller in that pic up there

:rose

He looked much better in "The Blues Brothers", downright professorial with the pipe....

Guys like him are like giant stones in the river, a foot below the surface. You stand on them but don't even know the depth and extent of their importance. I've probably listened to his bass lines thousands of times but never even knew who he was until that Blues Brothers movie. As a guitarist, I knew more about Steve Cropper. As the tributes roll in, I bet a bunch of people will be very surprised at how comforting and familiar his bass lines have been over the years. It's a reality for bass players in general but he was great at what he did.

RIP to a real musician.

He was on a mission from God to turn goat piss into gasoline

I loved every performance in Blues Brothers. Minnie the Moocher was my fave but I can set any of them on reply till the ipod battery dies. The best stupid bar joke to get me laid is "Ummmm.....(hot chick) This song looks pretty hard. I think I have to push the black buttons to play it." But I thought of it after hearing Jamie Foxx say that he'll throw in the black keys for free.

Briefcase Full of Blues by the Blues Brothers is one of the greatest albums of all time. Ditto Booker T & the MGs cover of the Beatles Abbey Road, McLemore Ave
