RIP scooter rider

RIP...

Scooter on the 101 though? That's dicey.

RIP Rider.
Work filter is blocking the article.
But there are plenty of scooters that can do 70 mph.

A Santa Rosa woman was killed early Friday after she was thrown from her scooter on Highway 101 and hit by a car, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Pamela Warren, 58, was heading north on the highway just after 3:30 a.m. when her Aprila Scarabeo Scooter hit a light pole that had fallen onto the roadway north of River Road after a Freightliner tractor-trailer slammed into it minutes earlier, the CHP said.

Warren landed in the center divider. As she was attempting to crawl to the right shoulder, officers said, she was hit by a Toyota Prius traveling in the slow lane.

A big truck crashed into a light pole when then falls, blocking the road? Imagine seeing a light pole appear out of the darkness at 3:30 a.m., completely blocking your path as you are riding on the freeway. That's a horror story for any motorcycle or scooter. :(

R.I.P. rider

And this asshole, grrrr:

It was unclear what caused the semi-truck driver to veer off the edge of the road and strike the street light, authorities said. The driver never stopped and kept going, said CHP officials. They are treating the initial crash as a hit and run and are searching for both the semi-truck — with a red and white cab and a white trailer — and the driver. The truck may have been damaged on its right front, CHP officials said.

Agreed.

Condolences to family and friends.

Terrible.

and the worst part, killed by a Prius. Good God, don't let that be the way I go...anything but that...(still hoping for death by Snu-snu)

RIP to the rider. Thoughts are with her family and friends.

Man that’s horrible...based on the article she landed in the center divider after the initial crash then was trying to reach the right shoulder when she was hit by the car. Trying to cross a major highway while injured...that was VERY risky.

If you’re in an accident and end up in the median stay there until help arrives. What a tragic series of events for all involved. RIP rider.

I'll bet she was pretty incoherent when she was doing her crawl.

I have a recurring dream of being somewhat injured or disabled, and having to crawl across traffic lanes.

RIP rider.

A good thing to keep in mind in case we ever find ourselves in that situation, in case our long term memory is serving us. I've seen people with concussions and they're very confused, incapable of reliably making good or safe decisions. I don't want to wander into casting blame, not do I think you were with your post, but It's entirely possible that an otherwise sensible, cautious person could make a terrible, out of character decision after a crash.

Very sad. Condolences to her family and friends.

RIP. Condoleances to the family.

Aprilia Scarabeo comes in 250 and 500cc... those are capable to be on highway.

This is indeed something that really scares me: something in the middle of the road.

:rip
...but a scooter on the freeway at 3:30 am?

When I had a freeway legal scooter I'd hit the highway at all hours of the night to clear my head. 3:30am with little traffic should have been safer than during the day.

RIP rider :rose

The scooter part may be weird, but you have to be super careful at night because not only is your visibility limited, maybe in the daytime there would be a line of backed up vehicles, or even cars swerving as an early warning sign.

I'm always worried about what I cannot see at night.

RIP rider.

I ride my scooter on the 101, and it has smaller wheels than the Scarabeo. But it just goes to show you..............you can die in so many different ways it's frickin bizarre.

RIP rider.
