What are the rules for a non CCW holder transporting firearms on a bike?

Where would it be legal to put a sidearm? If I wanted to break down my shot gun for a day of trap shooting; would it be legal for me to put it in a small case and strap it down the the rear of my bike?

Thanks,
Nick

I think so. Just be sure to have the shootgun mechenisim lock in place and the ammo in another "locked box". (reminds me of a loosers words of keeping something important in a "locked box". Oh yeah, agore)

if you a federal officer look up HR 218 and carry all you want. You no longer need a CWP to carry if you are a federal officer and currently have a weapons quall. :wow I just found this out so its off to get a new Springfield XD .40 in the 3";)

There is an old thread on this, quite good information there if you search.

The hr 218 comments make me laugh though, I mean the ammendment is there for us to protect ourselves from the gov if they should become tyrannical (I wont get into my opinions on that), but government agents, including retired are allowed to carry concealed, and citizens are not. lmfao at the stupid amerikans! Oh wait, I'm one of them.... :twofinger

I know 218 goes for Coast Guard Police because now being DHS you are federal. But how does that work if your LE for another branch of the service???

Not sure. as a MP do you have any offbase arresting powers? do you still fall under SROE? or is it a differnt set of books you follow while inconus? all questions I dont have the answer to.

Contact the AG and find out I am sure they can answer it better than I can here is a bit more info reguarding Cal and the HR law.

No, we do not have powers of arrest off base, with the exception of base housing that is located off the installation.

I have no idea what SROE means???

We still fall under the DOD, and enforce the UCMJ.

Yea I found those threads, and they all turned into an episode of Reno 911. :)

I was looking for potential detail of the definition of a permanent trunk verses and soft saddle bag. I don't think I found one, but it's looking like it hasn't been tested yet.

Ah for the old days...

When I used to just sling the '06 over my shoulder and ride out to the range with a couple of boxes of ammo in my jacket pockets.

1967 was such a long time ago.
