I have the oppportunity to purchase a s1000rr, Its a bit of a strecth financially for me, but doable, just have to stop buying little things, I just want to know from those of you who own or have expirience with this bike, If its worth the extra dough, over buying a jap literbike, I recently wrecked my R1, And find the s1000rr is the only bike appealing to me.
Thanks

According to every moto-journal in existence:

If you got the skill yes.

Personnally I would get the honda, better more accessible band for the street

but as stated before, its your money buy what gives you wood, thats what its all about unless you are racing:thumbup

didn't you just get your r1 a couple months ago? what happened if you don't mind me asking...

and no, don't get an s1000rr, i hear it's a piece of crap bike and everyone hates the thing...

Only you and your wallet can decide that.

It wouldn't be at the top of my list.

I lowsided on 84, Yes, I only had it for 2 months. Im really looking for 1st hand opinions, I appreciate the responses, but it seems as though they are more of personal preference. I know its up to me what I can afford, but id like to hear from someone if they feel its worth the extra money as far as riding feel and level of performance.

Perhaps the extra safety factor of abs and traction control will keep you from crashing? If so, then yes

Honda cbr has abs also

if you gotta "stop buying little things" then no cuz you'll always need the little things at the wrong times....

as for the S1000R, you should find out about insurance too...

for some was the deal breaker cuz just the badge cost more than they wanted to spend owning the bike..

YMMV..

I heard you don't have to turn it on to go places. S1000r is amazing.

Ya, thanks, By little things I meant like mods or eating out for lunch all the time. This particular 1 is fully loaded with akro, rearsets, levers and tricolor paint and a extra set of tires. its theyre demo. I did check it insurance with my co state farm, its about $66 a month.

no..don't get it....

just PM me where it's at and I'll look at it for ya cuz owning such a beauty will make me stop spending on hookers and drugs even I don't do them things ....:p

Have been following the international following. It has one. Racing it placed top ten first race. There are not a lot of storys in motorcycle history like that.

Last summer at motogp laguna I got out into the vendors section really early and they let my friend and me fire up their demo bike when it was freezer section nipples out sun barely up at laguna. It was one of the smooothest starts i have ever seen a high performance motorcycle engine achieve. It idled perfectly quiet and smooth instantly. Impressive after having just rebuilt a honda cbr1000rr with all the bells and whistles on the rebuild and being able to compare two of the most advanced well built engines in the world under break in loads which is typically as high as ten or fifteen percent more load from tighter tolerances and uneven surface wear. Both were top notch. The BMW a bit more it seemed. Revs smooth too we also did that cold.

I have never rode one personally though since it has not been availible very long. Maybe have seen one on the road yet either. So no opinion there. Buy carefully that is not a small amount of coin to invest in. Like they mentioned insurance blah, blah, blah, ect.

oh and ride safe

No new bike is "worth the money." But, someone has to buy them new, so us other folk can buy used ones at greatly reduced prices, so go for it!

Given the bike's been out for all of 3 months and costs a ton of coin, do you really think you're going to hear any negative first hand opinions at this point? You'll be hard pressed to find anyone who's going to say something bad about a bike they just gave a kidney for a few months ago.

I'd recommend you buy a cheaper, smaller bike to get more experience on, but you weren't asking that, were you?:teeth
