Hello all,

Looking for a saddle bag for my dads 1985 honda nighthawk 450. I don't have any knowledge about saddle bags at all.

Will universal fit ones be okay?
When I buy a saddle bag do I also need to buy a bracket for it also?

Was looking at these:

https://www.jpcycles.com/product/83...ccessory-studded-throwover-zip-off-saddlebags

these you just either throw it over or slip it between the seat and the rear then tie it down right?

Just gotta make sure there's clearance and nothing miscellaneous that the rear wheel will catch right?

Start with what you want in there. Daily commute work stuff, or camping for 2 nights or two day rides staying in hotels?
How often will you use them! What’s your budget!

Will you ride in the rain on trips to the PAC NW?

There are some good ones at RK and Cycle gear. The ADV crowd is more oriented to higher end equipment for serious trips in all weather.

Soft saddlebags tend to slump and swing inward toward the rear wheel and the rear wheel will rub holes into the bags.
