AFM changed the rule on safety wiring the front brake caliper bolts and is now allowing clips to be safety wired which I think is a cool step forward.
8.1.6 c)

has anyone done this? I was thinking about do this but would like to see how the you guys or the "pro's" do it

GIS found these for you:

This is one of the best pieces of news I've had in weeks! :teeth

Where does one aquire that yellow tubing stuff? What is is called?

Awesome. I still have my clips from when before the AFM banned it. I used them when racing with other series.
I'll put them back on next time I change tires.
Maybe around June.

I freaking hope so! My guess is that if a bolt gets a little loose it will only be able to rotate just a bit. It wont be under torque specs but it will prevent a catostrophic event.

always a bright becon of positivity and hope Mickey :twofinger

Do they actually work to prevent a bolt from backing out?

Of course. How can the bolt spin to back out, if it can't spin? Even if both bolts come loose, the two holes prevent the bolt from rotating 360, so it can never back out more than half a turn.

At worst, you pull off and DNF. But a catastrophic failure is prevented..

Even without the wire attached on the brake bolts, it's impossible for the bolt to turn more than about a half turn with the clip on...the clip itself will block the bolt from backing out (at least on my bikes).

its just weird not having the wire taught like it would be on the old safety wire standard. Im stoked about the change thought! what about the pinch bolts for the front axle Berto?

Personally, I'd still safety wire those.

Besides, you should be more worried about safety wiring the pins that hold the brake pads in the calipers. Entering T2 at Thill with no front brakes sounds sketchy as hell. Ask Stanton! :laughing
