San Francisco Motorcycle Club - Est. 1904

that does sound like fun - - - on the calendar!

--S

Hey Simon,

Hope you can make it, Cary was sorry to have missed you at Carlo's meet-n-greet, now that we don't come to the AFM races as much ... :party

The 110th Anniversary party at the DNA Lounge on October 25th should be epic, we're hoping to take out some full-page ads in the local motorcycle press to help promote the event ... :ride

talk to you soon,
-- John A

Cool, John. Diarised, tho that's around the annual family holiday. TBD.

I'd like to make that as well. Looking forward to stopping by for some of the events before then too. Thanks for the heads up post.

Hi Marcoose and rugbydawg,

Thanks for posting, we'd love to see you if you can make it ... looks like a couple of the bands we're hoping will play are The Titan Ups! and 1906 ...

Should be a fun ride around the city from 11am to 2pm, too ... :ride

see you around the corner,
-- SFMCjohn

I saw the poster at the Dainese D-Store today. I am going to try and make it. What a milestone - 110 years. Sounds like it will be a great event!

Thanks, 65_dreamer, we hope it will be a great event ...

Not sure what is going on with the 49 Mile Ride this year (rumors that it's cancelled) but we're working on having parking for trailers and a 49-mile-style ride before the party ... :ride

see you in the parking lot,

Watching history ... Marc Marquez wins 10 in a row, joining Mick Doohan and Agostini in the history books ...

SFMC on cover of City Bike!

City Bike rocks! Thanks, Kenyon and
new editor-in-chief Surj!

see you at the party, :ride

PS: Ace Cafe Rob was here tonight at
7pm (as he often is) showing the Ulster
GP on our big screen ... epic racing!

"Motorcycle Polo Looks Dangerous but It Isn't"

I suspect that back when men-were-men what was considered a "dangerous"
activity was a bit different than today ... :laughing

So, we're having fun looking through the SFMC's massive archive
of vintage photos and scrapbooks with Surj, City Bike's new
Editor-in-Chief, and came across this pic,
which demonstrates how "safe" motorcycle polo was
back in the day ... :laughing

see you at the DNA Lounge, :ride

PS: Here's a link to an earlier post in this thread about
the SFMC, the Oakland Motorcycle Club and motorcycle polo ...

Hey G!

Thanks for the heads up! :ride

I have to go visit Jenny and Mike on Monday to pick up some '73 Tiger parts ... I'll bring them a poster and say it's from you ... :thumbup

see you soon,

Getting ready for the 110th Aniversary Party ...

IMG_20141003_125757863 by San Francisco Motorcycle Club, on Flickr

We're in the process of sprucing up the clubhouse for the big party ...

This is Jack Young putting a coat of varnish on our wood floor ... this floor was originally installed by Jack's father when the club purchased the old blacksmith's shop on Folsom Street in 1947 ...

Jack's parents were members of the club for decades, and Jack's brother, Bob, recently served as president ... Jack's nephew, Matt, is currently a member, and Matt's children are club "mascots" (a mascot is a child of a member who can be voted into the club on their 18th birthday without having to go through the prospective member process) ...

So, (if you are counting) that's four generations of the Young family who have been SFMC members ...

see you at the DNA Lounge on 10/25! :ride :party

Hi John - Very cool story about Jack Young. Not sure I can make the ride, but hope to ride up to help celebrate the Club. The 49 Mile Ride isn't happening this year, so hope to see a lot of cool vintage bikes and also meet some more BARFers.

Hey Akiko,

Sorry I missed you yesterday, but I think I saw your bike!

Hope you made the party and had a good time, otherwise I'm sure
I'll see you at another vintage event soon ... I'm hoping to get to Thee Parkside Wednesday night ride in one of these months ...

See you in the parking lot,

Here's a pic of the clubhouse before the big anniversary party yesterday ...
we really put a lot of work into the old place to make it look its best ...

I'll try to post up some pics in a couple of days once we get some
posted up to our website ... I heard we had about 300 bikes on the
ride through the city, and I saw a bunch of cool old
vintage bikes at the DNA ...

Thanks to all the BARFers who came out to help us celebrate
110 years of motorcycling in San Francisco! :thumbup

see you around the campfire,
-- SFMCjohn

Hey, John.

Thanks for the shindig. Good times! Nice of the guys from Yonkers to have traveled over.

Hey Marcoose,

Thanks for making the scene, it really turned out far better than we had hoped for ... The Yonkers guys are a ton of fun, we had a pajama party at the clubhouse last night to save them a few bucks on hotel rooms ...

Ace Cafe Rob and the SFMC will be showing MotoGP at the clubhouse today at 4pm for Moto3, 5pm for Moto2 and 6pm for MotoGP ... I'll be rooting for "old man" Rossi to win and Cal to finish, ha!

see you at the fountain,
-- SFMCjohn
