Did any of you guys just receive the loud cellular network Emergency Alert for the tornado warning ?

Its been rather windy, but nothing like trees & cows spinning thru the air....

Did anyone experience any twisty high winds in your areas ?

A buddy who is really into weather and sea events lives there and went to the shoreline to watch. The weather radar was pretty cool- quite definitive in the path as it moved onshore right at KMUX. Then it all went to hell as it headed directly towards the weather station on Mount Umunhum but dissipated quickly going upslope.

Yeah, the way the alert came through , made it seem like an extreme emergency & to run to the shelters .

I hope some of the older folks didnt panic, trying to scramble to an emergency shelter some where.

The national Weather Service issued a cancellation notice at 1:14pm

There has been some very high winds out here & in the bay area though .

So there really was one forming but puttered out....Good to know , thanks !

Wow, that sounds like it would have been scary....to have a flood swoop into the neighborhood !

I didnt have much faith in the tornado report today, as I dont think there ever was one to hit Santa Cruz area .

Maybe it was the same for you, you didnt think flood waters were on the way ?

Not really worried. I went right back to sleep.

winds up to 91mph at Santa Cruz harbor

OMG, that is terrible, I have a friend, with his wife who live aboard their boat there & will have to check in with them.
They were there a few years earlier, when the tsunami waves hit the harbor & were lucky not to have been damaged
too badly.

Thanks for that news report.....I need to plug into local news, better .

Wow. I assume the crane went up mines.
I doubt it could make it up the west side.

Even the east side has its limitations.

Seems to me a heavy lift helicopter might be a better answer, you'd have to truck it down the mountain otherwise. Lick wanted a new telescope anyway- good excuse!
