Saturn V scale model rocket launch

:wow For reals do you have to tell the FAA or NORAD if you are going to huck a "model" to 100,000 ft????

Anything over a G class motor requires FAA certification. Hence why people go to club launches. 100's of flights all under one waiver. Fresno is a 16,500AGL waiver IIRC. Black Rock is 25,000' standing with 100,000' call ins.

Here's one of mine. Check the video clip. Around 10' tall, 4" wide. Not my highest powered or most high performance but quick none the less. Supersonic on it's test flight. It's second flight resulted in a full motor failure. My largest was similar height and 7.5" diameter. Three motors. Usually launched on center (larger) motor then airstarted the side ones after the middle burnt out. Did in reverse order once, man was that cool. Quick pop got it into the air and then a big K motor kicked in to keep things moving.

:thumbup

One of these days, when I'm old and retired, I'm gonna' build an HP rocket and tote it out there. Until then, I'll just build up one of my all-time favorites... :love

I think I sold it but I had a massive (4" diameter IIRC) one of those cones and was going to build a scale model of that rocket. Also had parts to put releasable boosters on it.

There was an 8x upscale 'ceptor WITH releasable booster built a few years ago. :wow
