I saw this last night on the news.

It was the jogger's fault and the scooter rider's insurance cleared him.

However, I think the rider could have been more careful.

I rarely accelerate through intersections and I would certainly be wary of passing close to the sidewalk with an obstructed sight line.

Good thing he had the video camera, that was probably the biggest thing keeping him from getting charged, I know how pedestrian-centric San Francisco is!

I work by that intersection. People inexplicably walk out into the middle island without looking even though it won't help them cross any faster. I don't understand it.

It seems the significance of red lights and walk/don't fucking walk signals are lost on Down Syndrome pedestrians in SF.

Meh.
The rider pulled the trigger kinda quick for that situation. He was working on the presumption there was nothing/no one on the other side of that bus.
Never a good idea.

Motorcycles operate best in space. A tight, one-lane road surrounded by traffic islands is a bad place to throttle his 125cc's.

This. Regardless of whether or not the girl was jaywalking, the rider's view of what was just to the left of the lane he was heading for was completely blocked by the bus. It was foolish of him to just blast through the intersection and cut so close to the back of the bus. He might not be in the wrong, but he certainly wasn't right either. He better change his riding habits if he wants to survive.

I saw this news clip this morning. Rider mentioned during the interview that he was contemplating hangin' up his lid. Not positive, but I believe the segment also mentioned that she was being released from the hospital today. I was surprised insurance sided with him, but I'd wager this is far from settled. I've seen drag racers have worse starts and still win.

Why are you guys blasting this guy? She should have been paying attention to the stop light. Maybe next time she should be looking at that signal instead of disregarding it. She got lucky it was a motorcyclist. If it was a car she would be toast.

But then again Im a patient guy in a Harley just cruising not in a rush.

Even NY pedestrians have better manners than that.

Agreed. But beyond that it never hurts to analyze what the rider did wrong. Aside from what was mentioned this dude had the worlds slowest reaction. He had time to emergency brake or counter steer to to the left but did nothing. This person needs to improve their skill drastically.
