Scott Russell Cycling Kits

Do I have to sound like an inbred hillbilly when I wear the uniform? He did a great job of making the Speed coverage virtually unwatchable. :thumbdown

As bad as SR is, Ralph and Greg are probably even worse commentary-wise. He's like our Jamie Whitam, but even harder to understand at times :laughing

truth - especially after watching VelocityTV's Isle of Man coverage this past weekend

Q - what were the circumstances of Whitham's retirement?

it's fun, watching a lo-key Russellmania taking hold:

- additional AMA Pro racers now rocking Russell rep helmets [Elena?]
- 'Slick in Chief ball cap for EBR vids
- this thread

I rest my case:

Cool looking gear. I like Mr. Daytona and think he is a positive force in motorcycle racing but $300 for a Jersey and set of Bibs is a bit pricey.

$263.00

When Scott tried both the lower end and higher end bibs and there was no comparisn, the higher end stuff was much more comfortable, so that's what he went with...any of the higher end bibs are that much...

You can get a standard jersey and non bibs for about $110....

Did he try to wear them over the top of his overalls? That could be the problem.

My checkout cart price was $293. I am sure it is all top notch kit. :thumbup

Does that gear include 3 large marbles to put in your mouth so you can talk like him. Freddy Spencer used to talk like that when he was younger........

well, 1st off, Jaw-jah ain't Naw-Lins - you Westerners are excused

it was funny, being at NOLA's inaugural AMA Pro event -
the only place [other than a BetaMax of Freddie on SpeedVision] where you'd hear, "Yaw-muh-haw"

When you all grow up you can buy some Guy Martin gear from Red Torpedo....just sayin' :twofinger

Q - what were the circumstances of Whitham's retirement?

A: He retired because of glaucoma affecting his vision (possibly as a result of chemo he had for Hodgkins Lymphoma).

I have no problem with Whitham (but I'm British). I very rarely watch AMA, but when I have feel that Scott "Sling Blade" Russell needs subtitles.

Mmmmh-hmmm.

Scott Russell makes any race he is commentating on way more exciting. In fact, it was his commentary that drew my friends in enough to watch an entire race.

It was only after I found out he was "Mr. Daytona." Now I have nothing but mad respect.
