We were enjoying a fantastic meal in a very formal restaurant, candle light, fine wine list, and all that stuff, when a family came in with a screaming infant. It didn't go on for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, but half a fricken hour before we skipped dessert and left with splitting headaches. The kid was across the restaurant and everybody watched in pain as the parents kept throwing toys at the kid, laughing nervously, but never took the kid outside. Staff did nothing, management did nothing.

[/snobbish rant]

What should've happened in teh BARFers opinions?

I would have refused to pay :x

Of course I wouldn't have continued ordering, just said "sorry, we are out of here" after 10 minutes

And I would have smacked the kid, and the parents, upside the head on the way out :p

Which restaurant? Because I want to make sure I never go there.

-good for you not to tell the parents how they should raise their kid, no matter how rude they were.

-I would've left early.

Preemptive detail - she was NOT hawt.

Complained to the waiter. Complained to the manager. Not even a free shot of whiskey at dinners end. Told them we're leaving because they can't manage their room. I chalk it up to the manager being a poosie.

should have upperdeckered the restroom on the way out

I would be livid if I was at a nice place. I would ask management to ask them to leave or to comp my bill

kid out of control/crying/screaming? outside to the car for a time out until it stops.

did this to my kid a few times and she never did it again.

You should have went over and asked to sit at there table with them, take time to get to know others and try to understand their situation. Isn't life really all about caring for others.
