Seems like Booster Plug/Accelrator Module aren't "snake oil" after all.

Got the Accelerator Module for Christmas.

Works exactly as advertised...not enough time with it to gauge any change in fuel consumption but for us electrically challenged types it's an easy plug and play upgrade that definitely improves throttle response and also allows smoother upshifts.

Here's a PDF of the Motorcycle Consumer News review:

I didn't know what poor-fueling felt like - twitchy off/on throttle, surging at steady throttle - until I got the 690SM. After several hundred miles, though, I got used to it. Cracking open the throttle a fraction of a second earlier stabilizes the off/on, and riding a gear higher reduces the low rpm surging. Now the hair-trigger throttle makes the bike feel "direct". It's fun to be able to tame the beast, so to speak, with a bit more concentration. Nevertheless, the Accelerator Module sounds like a nice cheap fix if it can make the bike a bit less temperamental, a bit more refined.

I've run a bunch of fuel through the bike now and have some numbers. I wrote down the numbers for the three tanks immediately before and after it plugged in. Here are the cumulative results.

3 tanks prior: 40.3 MPG
3 tanks post: 39.8 MPG

Average gas mileage dropped by 0.5 MPG, which calculates out to essentially a 1% increase in fuel consumption. Keep in mind that my O2 sensor is d/c'd and the bike runs in whichever loop doesn't include the sensor. Perhaps next time I have the plastics off I'll reconnect the O2 sensor and see the effects on rideability and fuel mileage.

In my opinion, the loss of mileage is acceptable considering the positive effects on rideability the plug has provided so far.
