selling bike soon - best way to get the $$$?

Meet somewhere, daytime, at a location with lots of video surveillance like a bank, Starbux, etc.

And it couldn't hurt to have a secret silent partner watching.

My checks don't bounce, and yours shouldn't either.

But cash is OK, if you don't mind walking around with a bunch of money.

My M.O.:

Have cash in pocket
Have spouse or friend drive me to seller's location
Kick tires
Make deal
Remove helmet and "stich from trunk
Ride home on bike, with title in pocket

BARFERs aren't shady. They might be crusty or nasty, or even damp, but shady, they are not.

I've done multiple cash transactions both ways at my house or theirs. They're selling a bike. They want cash. Or you're selling a bike and you want cash. Bring the cash or take it. No big deal. I take checks from people I know well. I don't bring $10k in cash to iffy addresses without a friend present.

Well there was this Dove guy...

I actually bought a bike from him and it snapped in half on me on the bay bridge.

When I sold my S1000RR here, it was the guy that posted a WTB thread saying he "needed a bike by tonight," I went there and the guy was acting completely suspicious but still nice...I think he was just socially awkward.

Cash in hand. Nothing else.

This is the only way for me.
I always have a friend with me during transactions. Also if I sell the bike I have a way home as I never bring people to my house.
My shop yes.
If they want to test ride. Cash in full in my hand with a bill of sale signed.
If they dont like the bike the bill of sale can be ripped up easily.
I always use the dmv forms for bill of sale and release of liability. There easy to print out before a sale. I usually make 3 copies 1 for me 1 for the buyer and 1 for dmv.
