My ’05 ZX-10R with a bad crank bearing is in the shop. The crank needs to be replaced, maybe a rod, and a bunch of other stuff.
Got an update from the shop after they opened the motor - it wasn't a bad crank bearing, but a dropped valve (actually one intake and one exhaust in the same port) in number 4 cylinder. They make the same type of noise (as bad crank bearing), I was told. The cylinder head and the piston need to be replaced.
This. Bad day.

Bummer dewd, I dun rolled up 96,000 trouble free mi. on my '89 FJ1200. Last I heard it had 108,000K and wuz still run'in strong!Running 90 mph across the desert for extended periods of time.The FJ1200's were known for getting hot, a bit of oil starvation to that cylinder and 3 inch hole.
Came out okay though, swapped it!
