Shit! Title should read cures WITHOUT drugs. Damn me. ,thanks for the edit, Mods.
======================
I get these horrible headaches. Always on the right side of the brain. Moves forward and covers my face to my teeth. Can't talk when it happens, hurts to move the upper lip. Completely incapacitates me for 15-45 minutes.

Is it a tumor(in Arnolds voice)? :laughing

Seriously, what are some good remedies you've learned to help out with a headache? Heat/cold/holding breath?

I'm willing to try anything, but do not want to take Asprin or other drugs because I'm afraid they will just make me weaker in the long run.

Thanks.

Three ibuprofen will help. If you are getting severe headaches your head is under pressure from too much thinking and worrying. Relax :)

Sounds like your sinuses.

If it is, you can use one of these: The Grossan Hydro Pulse Sinus System using a mixture of baking soda and sea salt (much cheaper than their pre-made mixtures and exactly the same thing).

My wife used to get really bad sinus headaches until she started using that, and when she's using it regularly she doesn't get them.

When I lived in SF ( windy wet place) I got horrible sinus headaches, and infections. In Oakland I never get them.

Might sound hokey and stuff, but lavender seems to help me. I have a satchel full of dried lavender that I slip under my pilowcase.

Other recommendations:

Cold, fresh air combined with cool sheets on a comfy bed.

Absolute darkness.

Foot massage - It really works!

And, if you're a regular coffee drinker, but have missed your daily cup(s), you've got a sure recipe for a headbanger. It's a vicious cycle, but get some tea or coffe for almost immediate relief.

Tattoo's help, as well as any other self-maiming in an effort to diminish the pain by creating a new agony elsewhere.

Good luck.

I get horrible sinus headaches and the occasional sinus infection, there really is no "cure" but there are remedies for helping aleviate the pain a lil bit and for me it involves locking myself in the bathroom with the bath water running as hot as possible and just inhaling through the nose as deeply as possible, down an ibuprofin and get the sinuses and ears flushes regularly. Nasal sprays do nothing for me but dry out my sinuses and actually make matters worse. :cry

Holy shit, man. I ain't goin' EMO over it! :laughing

Thanks for the other suggestions. I did quit coffee since the wife quit coffee from the preggy. Hmm.

I also like the warm bath(sauna) humidification deal. ;)

Tina, try the thing that I posted, my wife spent years with dehabilitating sinus headaches until she started using it.

I only mentioned it cuz I got a tatt yesterday, and all of a sudden my headache disappeared.

How long ago did you and the wife quit coffee?

Something else I forgot to mention, a chocolate that is really rich in cocoa. Like 70% cocoa. Mmmmm...might just be me, but it's so very soothing.

Try THIS. Seriously. It's helped me. If you give it a few suck-offs @ the onset of the pain you can often nip it in the bud and get back to your old nutty self asap. :p

The order page is up in flames for some reason but I just got some last week no problem. The shipping is slow because it must come ground. Air freight is not an option because it's compressed.

ps// also great for workouts like a mx riding. and no I don't work for them.

This will clear you right out Martin... if you are man enough to try it. :thumbup

I've had good results with it, BTW.

Edit: Let me warn you- it's like getting kicked in the face by a mule the first time you use it.

I think I'd rather just do some good Chinese mustard. Have to get the powder and make it yourself though.

T-1, there are pressure points at the base of your skull. They are right at the base about an inch back from where your jaw meets the skull. Have your wife press on both sides as hard as she can and at the same time press on your temples. Hold for about 60 seconds. Works about over half the people I've done it on. A couple it actually about puts them to sleep. See if it works for ya. Hey, it's free. :teeth

I used to have chronic sinusitis and went the surgical route. I sure wish I found the sinus rinse before subjecting myself to the knife. While the surgery helped with the congestion, deviated Septum, and enlarged Turbinates it didn't help with the constant pain. Rinsing took care of the headaches. Mine always start on the right side, just below the bridge of my nose, then move behind my right eye.

I went with a cheaper solution than the one Climber has that can be found at most drug stores. It's really easy to do and only takes about a minute to prep. I have heard, however, that the pulse system works much better.

How long ago was this? You COULD still be having withdrawls from Caffiene.

Next headache you get try taking a couple sips of coffee or coca-cola. See what happens, if nada. Cool more then likely NOT withdrawls. (Yeah yeah FU haters that think otherwise... I used to drink over 64ounces of Mt Dew a day. I know about caffiene withdrawls.)

Wait a sec, weren't you in a pretty bad accident a little bit ago?

They are called cluster headaches. Similar to but different than migraines. Nothing you can do but take pill with a very strong dose of vasoconstrictors and caffeine called cafergot. They will last for a few months and then go away and then come back again.

That is why they are called cluster headaches. Men typically get them in their thirties to forties. One day they will just go away and not come again.

Believe it or not, they say that magic mushrooms can be a cure for "cluster headaches" (google). However, I'm quitting all funny business within 3 months when baby is born. Isn't it funny though that the shrooms can help with this and yet I don't want it? Don't worry...T-1 is growin' up and gettin' real. ;)
