SF Reddit loud moto complaints

Sorry, I should've asked why you deserve "what you get" for others using their pipes irresponsibly. It doesn't seem reasonable at all.

It depends on if motorcyclists are viewed as a community or as individuals. If they're viewed as a community, then we are all accountable to the actions of others in our group, and our failure to police our own through rider groups, education, legal work, etc, is on us. If viewed as individuals, then yes, it is unreasonable.

The thing that most of the folks in the "individual" camp miss though is that it doesn't matter how you view them, it matters how others view us. Obviously they view us a group, so we either fix the problem or they fix it for us. And we're not gonna like how they fix it for us, likely.

So true, it is unfortunate a handful can spoil it for the rest of us and they don't care if it is a few or the whole group. Convincing others in our community to change is a big ol' hurdle though.

Hardly. I'm saying it's easier to paint all drivers with a similar brush when there are far more of them killing riders than vice versa.

If I see 10 out of 15 drivers driving distracted while 1 our of 15 riders is riding like an ass, I'm more likely to assume most drivers are the same while that one rider was an exception.

In a conversation about loud pipes making a ruckus, you're offering a straw man. Suit yourself, tho. That's all I have to say to you about that.

It seems you're presenting the dilemma faced by every group, in which people outside that group will take the actions of one individual as representative of the entire group. Smokers, lawyers, homemakers, etc. It still doesn't make it right to punish an entire group because of the few. YMMV.

I was simply responding to hattusilis' point. And I still fail to see how it's a straw man especially after I clarified my point.

Debates of right or wrong are irrelevant, outcomes are all that matters.

accept the laws of acoustics

Accept the laws of acoustics.
You live in a city that has no open space to dissipate sound.
Of course everything is going to be amplified X 10.
Isn't complaining about the high cost of living and city hall handing out your tax dollars to everyone who doesn't work for anything a little more important?:deadhorse

Usual SF nouveau Riche nimby douchebags on Reddit as always.
Complain about gentrification, also cause it.

Same people that were complaining about the Castro being "too gay" 10 years ago.
Same jerks, new target.

theirs a jerk in the apts behind my place for no reason he revs the motor on his low rider for a good half hr at odd times (day or night).
would be not so bad but all he has is a stock motor with a blow out muffler. sounds sick (as in bad, not good).
just hope one time he gulps a valve hard.
would call in but by the time any sheriff could get here he would have it turned off. and seeing as the sheriff has much better things to do then chase a noise complaint.

.

My first time riding in SF, which btw isn't fun, a Harley rider pulled up next to me. Even with my earplugs in his pipes were loud. When he pulled off it was deafening at first

Isn't it more like, little shithead kids, sniveling about their XBox not working right, threatening other little kids, posting pictures of their cats and showing how little they really know about punctuation and spelling, and how many of them are true gangster badasses?

That is what I've gotten out of it the 3 times I tried going there.

If you can't ride a bike with an aftermarket pipe on it responsibly, you deserve what you get, and so do the rest of us.

I strongly disagree with that last part of your statement. I do not deserve getting my access to aftermarket exhausts for my race bike taken away by the EPA because so many irresponsible people chose to run them on the street.
http://www.cycleworld.com/2016/03/23/epa-proposes-legislation-to-ban-aftermarket-exhausts

if people want to run loud exhaust do the world a favor, tone it down and run it up in front of you so you're the first person to hear it.

I just WISH that you could FORCE someone with loud pipes on their bike, moped, car and truck to sign a form acknowledging that WHEN ( not IF ) the day comes that bans aftermarket exhausts that they understand it is because of their own selfishness.

Kinda like cigarettes - want a pack ? Sign here. It states you were warned and can't sue when you get cancer. Thanks.
