With regards to the rear tire chunking/cracking my best guess is it might be the result of low tire pressures in the dirt combined with heavy weight loading. Hard to say for sure.

I thought the bubble issues were only with the bias ply tire?

I have some Radial 705s on my bike and as a tire whore--color me impressed! Great grip and good rear end feel.

The tire that i had a problem with was a bias ply.

FYI - in the tread on ADV about this issue there is a recent report of a Radial coming apart.

Myself - Even though my last one had an issue, I went ahead and put a new one on the rear. It's one size taller. My toes barely touch the ground now, but the trade off is that it's less buzzy on the freeway. I dropped about 500rpm at 65-70mph.
This time around I'm not going to air down as much when I'm off pavement with heavy loads.
