Hey guys, about to drop about $350 for a Shoei Qwest. What i've read so far is that between that and the 1200 it comes down to comfort. I did try on a qwest and it fit perfectly snug, comfortable, visibility was fine, it felt very right. Is my search, or "quest" for a first helmet over?

I currently use a Shoei Qwest. I've had it since August of last year. Coming from various modulars, I'm very happy with the Qwest. It's fairly lightweight compared to what I'm used to and relatively quiet as well. The airflow is really good unless your bike has a significant windshield (like my last bike).

It's definitely worth the money and is a solid investment whether for a first time helmet or as a replacement.

One word of caution, while the cheek pads are removable, the actual liner isn't so if you're the type with a sweaty head, the liner will be difficult to clean effectively.

My hubby has one. If the fit is good on your own head, go for it - it's a quality helmet that would be a most excellent choice for a first.

Don't forget earplugs.

i was looing at the Qwest as well..... really the only Shoei that fits me. I ended up with an HJC CL-17 as my main helmet, which fits me very well and hard to beat for the money, and also a Kabuto (OGK) Aeroblade III, which I got a killer deal on. Very light

Just tried on every helmet I could get my hands on and damnit :| the Shoei is the lid my dome was intended for (Though on a side note those cheek pads are insane. Do they really need to be that thick up front? Messes with the hipster beard I'm trying to cultivate over here). The fit between the Qwest and rf-1200, once the helmet was on, was a push for me, with the Q being slightly easier on/off and maybe not quite as snug as the 1200 - though this is not a bad thing. Since the fit is good either way the deciding difference for me is in intended application - 1200 intended/shaped for more sport position/leaned forward, the Q more upright/sport-touring. I have clip ons... so for me the 12 makes more sense but if you are more upright... I think you've found the correct lid my friend.

Thanks all for your input! I ordered and got my qwest and like you said ntron, it's the lid my dome was made for. I tried a bilt, an rf, agv, Ariel, and one other but the qwest was by far the best fit.

Finally all my gear is ready, car is sold, just need a bike!

I think a Quest is better for upright bikes- standards or cruisers.
