hi all- i used to be really into riding...rode about 5 yrs street, 10 trackdays, though i've not been in the saddle in about 2-3 yrs, and not track in about 4 years. I was never really that fast, but did do all the studying/reading possible, and knew all of the physics involved in riding well.

since i've moved to a foreign land where the riding season is just way too hot, and the roads suck (not to mention drivers aren't as 'aware' of bikes) i've decided not to get a bike for street riding. however, there is a track about an hour away from me, and there is a few clubs that offer bike rentals and 'instruction'- though i think that just means there's a guy who rides the track and makes sure i'm not too crappy.

the question is- i've been off so long, that will jumping right back into the saddle at the track be fine for me? i'd obviously go to beginners group- and it's not as though i've forgotten how to ride or anything- just want to make sure i wont be in over my head!

I think you should go for it man, it'll all come back to you. Just get the right gear and take it easy!

um... you posed your question in a trackdays forum... don't think you're gonna get any "no" responses... :twofinger :p

^^^ yea really lol. Just go for it, take it easy, ride your own pace and it'll come back naturally. The track IS the safest place to get back into the groove

....it's like riding a bike.......it'll come back to you. If you WANT to do it then do it. You obviously want to.....or you would not be asking.....so just go and do it. You'll be hooked again 10 minutes into it.

No problem just start slow.....

I didnt ride at all for 20 years....no street bike, nothing....then finally deceided to get back on the track and bought a track bike, first day on a street bike in 20 years was on the track.

Started slow.. and slowly built up and loving it :)
