Single speed bicycle for commuting

Don't need to maintain drive components. With fixie/single speed the chain is thicker, there is no front/rear derailures. So no need to adjust cables, oil and keep up a chain as much.

For flat terrain it's way better for commuting, because it's just less hassle.

For on road suspension is kind of a waste. It adds extra crap that can break, and unless it's lockable just wastes pedaling energy.

because 18 speeds are such high maintenance....this is a mc forum where most of us do thing mega times harder than keeping bicycle gears working. and as far as that goes, one always has the option of findong the right gear pattern foe the normal commute and leaving it there. and fixed gear is just retarded.

Different strokes and all that. Fixed gear is actually fun for commute. Specially after long day, tired as fuck, that fly wheel affect is pretty nice.
