Small fun bike ideas

As expected... If I were living there I would likely buy a four cylinder 250 with an 18k red line for the heck of it... You can't get one here so why not try it? Sure, a super moto or dual sport would probably be the "best" solution for riding conditions, but trying something unavailable here would be fun :)

That sounds like the plan!

I wish they'd make more fun, sporty, potent scooters - like the Yamaha TMAX. I'd actually love to have a (reasonably priced) scooter like the Honda X-ADV, or similar, scooter with a 350-500cc motor.

I just can't wrap my head around the idea of modern maxiscooter prices - over $5-7k.... what??

Honda has an ADV350 here. Not sure if it's available in the US?

The Honda scooter prices are stupid in the US. Here a PCX is about $3200 new. The price is the price (OTD pricing). In the US it's $3800 + + +. Guna cost you 4500.

A comparable Yamaha X Max is $2800 OTD. A Yamaha Aerox 155 like I have is about 2200 new OTD here. I paid about 1700 for a 7 month old bike.

And these are Honda and Yamaha's top of the line bigger scooters . There are whole lines of 125's and 110's for way less money. Click, Fino, Wave, Scoopy, etc

My Aerox is getting 83.5 mpg.

I really liked my Riva 180 back in the day. Boy, talk about easy to ride. So accessible, could keep up on the freeway (55MPH limit).

That said, when I did get a job requiring a freeway commuted, I upgraded to a 600.

OP do ever see Yamaha Fiores in Thailand, there was a whole ad campaign with 2NE1 there. I'd love to get one.

Never noticed one, there are a lot of Fino's and Scoopy's. Look similar?

It's actually really cheap to change bikes here. $9 to immigration and no sales tax. I'm kinda looking at it more as 1 year bikes now. I'll probably list the CRF in August when I get back and pick up a MT07 or a RE if I see a good deal.

Did a parking lot test ride on the new Triumph 400. It seemed well built but kinda hard to tell what the motor is like driving around a parking lot. The sales guy insisted on taking a pic of me for their page so I took one of him for here. haha

yamaha mt-03. they are used as training bikes for new rider school and are my favorite in the fleet of training bikes. (I maintain them for the school) they seem like a real bike in handling and the motor is pretty smooth. maybe this would be a good choice for a Thailand use case

Been looking at bikes and not really sure what to get. Rode a CB300R, thought it was gutless. MT07, loved it but I'll probably kill myself on these shitty Thai roads. Looking for something nimble enough for Thai traffic but fun and big enough for country rides w friends on big bikes. My short list KTM390(dealership network issues here though) or CRF250M (SM version sold here till 2017).

Any ideas of FUN smaller used bikes I should be looking at w upright body position. I have no experience w small street bikes other than scooters.

Thanks
I'm enjoying my Z400 thus far. As with most things in life, opinions/preferences can vary so I would test ride all the considered bikes and go from there. Good luck and keep us posted.
