Having worked @ Jerry Lane Pontiac/Buick, early 70's, parts chaser into Oakland every week.
Opals weren't that reliable, always had one rebuilding in the shop. But airboat powered driveline ?
The GT had a look like a Vette, cokebottle shape, but nope.

In high school I worked at Holland Aviation at the Hayward Airport. I'd sweep out the hangar, clean/restock the planes, chase parts, help do whatever the mechanic needed doing, etc. One of the most incredible aspects of my job, as a high-schooler, was driving the pilot's cars down to SJ airport when they had to drop off a plane and needed a ride back. One of them had a little red Opel GT, and it was a lot of fun to drive! I still can't believe they signed off on that. I had an Opel Kadett at the time, and wished like hell it was the GT instead!

Went awol in a ‘60s Kadett, the downside of FOMO and getting paid monthly in cash.
Always liked the GT body style.
