I think these are the relevant sections of the code; see section 4604(d)3, and 5004. I think your paint job alone makes it of historic interest in my book.

i gleaned the infor from some posts that were on the bay area vintage riders forum that is nolonger around. one of the members had their local SF DMV office staff well versed in the process and he did it entugh they stopped confirming with the sacramento office.

"historic interest" is very subjective, so the only concrete thing in that law is "25 years old" = historic vehicle. the historic vehicle plate also means nothing, you don't have to have a historic vehicle plate to primarily use your historic 25 year old 1995 toyota tercel for primarily display purposes. DMV clerks allegedly put the Historic Plate = historic vehicle cart before the 25 years old = historic vehicle horse.

WOOT finally succesfully jumped thru ALL the DMV hoops and it is now titled and tagged today, after almost three years of struggle

low cost rescues -the most expensive way to get a moto

ok, so I just repaired the last of the 20 year old crash damage. the instrument cluster housing was shattered. the glue I used previously did not hold. new cluster enclosure swap this afternoon . Obligatory ancient wasp nest behind the tach, check

so I finally got around to perform rocket surgery on the rescue airhead, I renewed the motor push rod tube rubber seals.

Lets see some more pics please!

Hey, look what my son brought back from the BMW museum in Munich and gifted to me for X-mas -
its 1:2 scale, about 14"w x 12"tall
250 parts,
about a 5 hour build time,
with a working crank, valve train and 4-speed gearbox

I parked it on a display shelf next to my desk in my home office.

:)
