Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

There is a credit card sized dent to the front passenger side above the head lamp, and some of the plastic clips appear to be missing from the front bumper so the lower plastic trim is held on by a length of twine. Other than that, the body is in pretty good shape. No known mechanical problems. The truck is pretty much bone stock, with the exception of an aftermarket brake controller. It even has the factory radio.

This truck formerly belonged to my father in-law. He recently passed away, but before he did, he signed the title over to my fiaincee. We have the title in hand and ready to go. It was just washed, waxed, and the interior was shampooed.

EDIT: To answer some questions from PMs I received... I apologize, but I don't have any maintenance records for the truck. My fiancee's father was a career logging truck driver and a do-it-yerselfer, so any maintenance was probably done by him. I know he purchased the truck from someone else, but I have no clue who that person is or the history of the truck prior to his ownership.

This would make a perfect trailer or toy hauler rig. It gets over 20mpg at 75+mph with the 5 speed.

I'm listing it here first to give y'all first dibs. If it doesn't get any bites after a while, I'll put it on Craigslist.

I will post pictures tomorrow, but it looks like a 2000 Dodge 2500 CC/SB in dark green.

Ah, the good ol' ISB 5.9...that block is good for 325HP and 610 lb-ft of torque in case anyone wants to "upfit". :teeth
 
This one gets better mileage for towing to race tracks. I have the same thing, except 2001 in automatic. Your manual version is actually preferred.

Plus, I paid $11,000 for mine, granted it had only 55k miles when I got it, and a brake controller and pressure gauge. But for $7000 this thing is a DEAL!
 
This is a fridiculous deal, it should've been gone in less than 24 hours! If I didn't just pick up a really long trailer, I would've dumped my 1-ton diesel dually and replaced it with Nick's truck. 5-speeds are almost impossible to find and to find one in such great shape for $7k is unbelievable! A 3/4 ton Dodge with a Cummins diesel gets 20+ mpg and should last at least half a million miles.
 
Yup. I just got 20 MPG going to buttonwillow at 75 the whole way there and back. And I didn't need to stop and fill up where prices were ridiculous.

This is the best track truck ever.

We're not doing such a great job if you still have it! :laughing

I picked up a 34' trailer and need the long wheelbase of my dually, otherwise I would've been at your door yesterday with a fistful of dollars. I like my old school Cummins 12 valve diesel and I have a 5-speed too but a 1-ton dually is not the most practical thing to drive around town.
 
Yeah, for as popular as it seems I've only had one member PM me asking for more details. I'm hoping to show the truck this weekend and get it out of my driveway. I'd hate to defer to CL since this would make a nice little hauler for a cargo trailer or toy hauler.
