Speaking of guns, which is sexier revolvers or semi-autos

Bullit had a revolver, Dirty Harry had a revolver but Bond had a semi-auto.
which pistol is sexier?

Revolver. Cuz you never hear first-hand accounts of someone beating the odds at Russian Roulette with a semi-auto.

Revolver. No question.

^^^ Wut he said.

A revolver is like the best woman you have ever been with. Minimal maintenance, she still can be dirty, and she will NEVER let you down.:cool

This question is really a lot like asking which is better, tits or ass. Seriously tux, it doesn't matter which is sexier, as long as you can touch it.

I probably own one of each "modern classic" pistol (Model 29, PPK, 1911-A1, Python etc.) and some days the revolvers with their beep bluing, the kind you fall into, take me in- other days the breakdown and engineering of the classic 1911 take me there. The love of the pistol has no boundaries. Wow, that sure sounds gay.

Pink Pistols meeting is that-a-way. :laughing

:thumbup I like the comparison.

1. FN 5.7s are pretty damn sexy. Can we even get those in Commiefornia though?

2. Fgt Nick - I wanna shoot that Sig...I'm thinking about buying one. When can you hit the range?

Yeah, my best friend has one that shoots like buttah. The stupid civilian rounds you can buy for it make it perform like a .22 Magnum you have to pay x10 to shoot though. You could always get them, the only problem was that it was designed as a military sidearm with a custom load that was AP only. It took a while for Non-AP rounds to hit the market so Civilians could shoot the damn thing.

recoil is up and right, unbalanced, grip is not exactly economical just because uncle sam issues it to you doesnt mean its hot shit.

1) Quit limp-wristing it.
2) Unbalanced...it's a steel-frame, high-capacity pistol. It's a little nose heavy, but what pistol isn't?
3) Economical? I'm sure you meant ergonomic. And it fits the hand just fine.
4) Uncle Sam issues it because it's an effective, sturdy, economical combat pistol that works for 90%+ of the people who carry it. Even a lefty like me.

Beretta is an OK gun.
It's aloy frame.
Uncle Sam issued it because of the price and liability issues (manual safety).
It's an OK gun. Just OK.

One thing I don't under stand about 2" .357s: IMO you need at least a 4" barrel and maybe a 6" to get the full powder burn out of the magnum load. If it's a 2", might as well be firing a .38 special? No?

Not bad shooting!

I can shoot a lot better with 38 specials than with the 357 magnums, plus they are cheaper to shoot anyway.

Enkie,
Sorry man if in my my posts I came across as a dick. They were more in spirit of Ford vs Chevy disagreements than they were "I'm right and you're wrong!" type of argument.
I haven't set up my Dillon press yet but I'm curious what powders you have had the best luck with for the 357 magnums? I've got a few hundred Hornady bullets I'm planning on using. I think they are 125 gr but I have to check.

I like Blue Dot a lot! I'd have to go look at my data, but I always used the NRA reloading book for my standard reference. I used to have a lot of fun shooting 110 grains because you could really get them moving.

third option: pump action!

if y'all want to talk ugly, check out the Chiappa Rhino.

Can't link to it from work.

Every other firearm presented in this thread is an absolute beauty by comparison. Even the beretta 92 series, which is the Camry of handguns :p

you mean "made":( been out of production for a long time. wanted one since seeing it in a certain popular anime. Gunbroker will have them sometimes for $155 or more, they double in price every few years.

they never made enough or sold enough to justify making it CA legal either :(

I've always thought Mataeba makes a pretty sexy revolver.

Steve

You can buy them in CA. If it is on the CA DOJ list it means they are legal for sale.

Double fail on the links, but ok thought it was the other list you were referring to (the banned weapons such as certain model ARs and whatnot).

So what about the ammo then? Only non-AP expensive shit available or is the original AP ammo available? And isn't it the same ammo as used in an FN P90? Or are the P90 rounds slightly larger? I know they're both 5.7 but 5.7x?

Only Police and Military can buy Armor Piercing Ammunition. That's Federal, not State law. They only want teh gubment to be shooting through body armor. Both types of shells are readily available with appropriate licensing. It's a great sidearm if you want to make a habit of targeting objects behind sheet metal and in light armor, but only if you can get the shells. As a civi, who can only use the little non-AP rounds, it really is just kind of an overpriced novelty. Cool for a collections, but not very practical regular use when you could target shoot with a .22 Magnum for so much cheaper.
