In december wifey and I are planning on doing a road trip, probably to vancouver or something. I know, I know why Cana-duhh, family of course.

I really don't want to take my car and am looking to get a rental. I hate the regular crap that avis/enterprise has to offer and was wondering if anyone knows of any specialty rental car companies out there. I know hertz has the Shelby, what other options are out there.

Thank you in advance.

I would love to do that trip on a moto, but that is out of the question right now.

Budget Rents Infiniti products out of certain offices I believe.

rent a motorhome. My wife and i jst got back from a weeklong roadtrip to denver/breckenridge. Its fun, stay at rv parks, camp, do whatever.

Beware that most "specialty" rentals have low daily mileage limits, and the per-mile charges can add up, especially if you're planning a road trip. I think the charges are about $.40 per mile over 100/day.

That said, check out the Hertz Fun Collection. In addition to the Shelby (which I've rented, and had a blast with), they have a couple of other interesting cars.

Hertz, Enterprise WILL rent other cars then what they have on the lot. Generally you need to in about 2 weeks to a month in advance and "reserve" a certain car.

We did that with HLE (Hertz Local Edition) near our house, ond drove a nice little ride up to oregon.

Keep in mind usually if you rent a vehicle "in state" for a week or longer, you get unlimited mileage!

Wow. This is why I love barf. A lot of good ideas. That rv thing is a good idea although more suited for the family.

I might go with the clk350. That is a decent car, the only thing is that it is in SF.

Any more options in the S bay??

Isn't SF on the way to Oregon, if you take 101 N?

There is probably no market for specialty cars in SJ, since most nerds prefer the Prius. :laughing
