Speeding at a radar trailer = image of an idiot

someone posted an article on Moto-USA about pleasanton's latest trick...

basically they're setting up a traffic light in a residential area to cycle to red when someone approaches it over the limit. The speed measurement device is about 350 feet ahead of the light itself, and has a "posted speed/your speed" display. The light will show green in the other direction (and keep the cross street red) so as to not 'punish' drivers who happen to be obeying the limit.

They have one of those on Park Blvd. in oakland. It kicks in at around 11:30pm. Its a long strech of road, and easy to go over 35 on. As you approach, the light is red, but if you're going the speed limit, the light will turn green before you enter the intersection. Otherwise, you'll have to slow down only to find the light changing to green while you're on the breaks.

He was supposed to be at a residential drug treatment center in San Mateo when he was arrested Saturday afternoon in Rohnert Park, police said.

Anyone notice this sentence? What's up with that. Uh, boss, I need to go to my drug treatment meeting- mine as well take the motorcycle. Lemme see, let's get high/drunk instead and race against a speed camera on the way over. :laughing Insert comment about evolution weeding out the idiots.

Well that's interesting.

I knew that my town was doing things to make it undesireable to cut through town to avoid freeway backups, but that's a new one. I can hardly wait until all the lights in town have that feature. :(

They already have the turn lanes in high traffic areas so that only five cars get through during rush hour, even in the directions that cut-through traffic would never take. Time to write some more letters to the city council.

I think V4 is correct and they only got 2 digits.

So that would mean if you can do 110mph its gonna read 10 mph and no crime committed??? :laughing

That is ok because on the outskirts of Kyoto is a camera that has multiple pictures of me going for the top speed record while giving the camera the finger. I could trigger the camera just fine but since it shot only from the front bikes cannot get nailed.

There's speed cameras on the highways of Japan and one man was so upset that he was caught on tape and had to pay the fine that he went back to the camera that caught him and took a baseball bat and bashed the camera to death. The catch is that he swung at it from the front and the speed of his bat swinging triggered the camera, taking a very incriminating picture of him swinging his bat and obviously destroying the camera. He was promptly convicted of destroying government property and forced to pay for the costs of replacing the camera. :laughing I hate my race sometimes...

Goddamn bastid. :laughing :twofinger I have a friend in Japan that rides and for every camera, he'll speed up and give the camera two peace signs and he's been doing this for YEARS and we all tell him to quit it or they're going to begin mandating front license plates. :laughing

top speed on the moped, well unless I lose some weight.

COOL Photo. Anyone else got their speed photo'd. Ah, just don't do it drunk, and do it when no one is a round. These sportbikes can accellerate from 0 to 99 and back down to zero in a 1000 feet easy.:teeth

Well I guess this is another example of why you don't see so many old squids. They all get screened out by the survival of the fittest filter.

A "friend of mine" has a photo of himself wheelieing past one of these radar boxes indicating 99. :laughing

I ride past one every day on this long straight 25 mph section right by my house, and I'm always sooooo tempted to hoik it up. (it'll never happen). :shhh

I don't get it. How can that radar pick up my bike, it's such a small object with so many different curves and angles.

That's probably just a 'timed' light... go the limit and it turns green just in time. Go any faster and you get there too early.

This one intentially goes from green to yellow to red if you're approaching over the limit. And it STAYS red for a while too.

Well your bikes alot bigger then a baseball or hockey puck. They use radar to get their speed. Radar used for planes can pick up birds, but the software corrects for it so they don't show up. So yeah your bike is a good target.
