To begin holiday weekend, one must do a "long-ride-therapy". That is the only solution to clear cobwebs and prepare the mind for holiday fun. So I pointed the pony to seaward.
South bay -> few droning miles on 101 -> Uvas reservoir -> CA152 -> Watsonville -> Monterey
I so love those houses with their Vineyards, driveways and fountains in their front yard in Morgan Hill. The 152 was surprisingly light so, fun was had.

Stopped for coffee in downtown Monterey where the espresso was actually half decent (against my expectation) decided against highway slog so went up the highway 1 and turned right onto CA-9. It was soooo busy - not surprising given the weekend - so turned right again on Bear creek road. Ah, the solitude! finally some decent twistees that soon became a crawl behind the cars but, hey I will take it. The views were not to shabby either!
Back on to 17 and then home in time for lunch - a morning well spent, eh?
Monterey -> CA-1 -> CA-9 -> Bear creek road -> 17 -> Home

That is an excellent route. I should have gotten out today, but the weather made me lazy. I did manage to refresh the oil and brake fluid during my days off last week.

While I did not ride today I thought harder about checking the valves on the KTM, so I have that going for me. Everyone says you can move the radiator for the check, but considering I should probably flush the coolant anyway, I'm just going to remove it for better access.

East bay ride on the 390 ADV X July 2nd. Morgan Territory has bridge-replacement delays of 30 minutes, so we took Vasco to Livermore.

Too many curves to count. But maybe not too many for AI?!? I tried
Google/Gemini and it FAILED. Could not read the GPX file. Then I tried
ChatGPT and it counted 1397 curves in 6+ hours!!!

Good day for a little coastal ride. This of course, is coastal adjacent. Was able to give some riders suggestions for places to stay on their way north to Eureka. They started in Monterey and didn't like my initial suggestion that they could totally make Eureka today

Weather has been pretty sweet and well aligned with my days off, so, after fun ride north yesterday I decided to get some additional turns in today. Just a few.

Other than sharp park road the ride south past HMB was pretty low key, which was fine, soak up the sun and the surf scene and chill. Turned it up once I hit Tunitas. Lots of cyclists and a few locals hooning towards cooler air kept my pace reasonable (ish).




The lack of fog really had the sun dappled roads in full effect.


It was downright hot at Alice's.



Big basin didn't disappoint, though heading south does involve a lot of blind corners, fog lines were hugged.



No photos on Bear Creek but I was going the opposite of commute traffic so.it was a proper hoon. Folks have been very nice about making room for a pass, I dig it.

Finished up with skyline to page Mill where I caught another Hypermotard rider and got waved by. Good times..

The weather is on a roll. Took my lunch outdoors on the Mt Tam East Peak, then ridgecrest. Only ran into traffic taking 1 south past Muir Woods.










Good times and now I won't feel bad riding my bicycle to the moto social.
