newbie, trying to find a good starter bike and making that car to bike transition :teeth

I'm looking at something on the range of Kawasaki Ninja 250R. suggestions welcome!

Welcome :) The 250 is in a class of its own. There is of course the Hyonsung 250 but I've not heard a whole lot about that. There are a ton of newbie threads with just this topic in mind, check 'em out and if you still have questions post up!

thanks! I was just told I should get a relatively cheap and light starter bike as I am most likely going to drop it :( ... but who knows!

Ahaha yeah, yeah, and yeah. If you're interested SuperMotos are fun as all hell, and cheap to crash too :) I think a DRZ-400SM is a good starter bike. Not too powerful and pretty light. Its enough fun that it will last you a while though. I miss mine :(

Welcome fellow E46er :)
I have a 323i myself. As far as bike recommendations go, whatever you get, get a used one. the Ninja 250 has a really high resale value, so you might wanna make sure you get a good deal and not ripped off. I was gonna get a used 250 as a first bike, but i couldn't find one for a reasonable price.
Got any more pics of your bike?

hahahahaha .... hi Tony.

The bike will e mainly for recreational use. so ... fun stuff nothing too track-ish, or serious commuting ....

An M3 is not a sports car, its a poser car for sissy girls with white collared blouse's and bluetooth headsets. Now my C32 AMG thats a sports car! :twofinger i kid i kid

haha I guess what I mean to say is no dirt biking ... just weekend riding type of thing.

A 250 is a great choice! (So is a DRZ400SM. ;) <-- only 295 lbs, easily lowered - I'm 5'-2" and flatfoot on it.)

Have fun 'shopping'!! :teeth

Yana:banana

p.s. could you also amend your sigline to comply with TOS 4.13 - size 2 or smaller font? Thanx!!

o wow, i was under the impression that they were all more or less around 400 lbs
good to know, sorry about the sig, I figured since I only have a few letters and one line it wouldn't be a big deal as it was only 3 ...

:thumbup

The GS500E that I started on certainly wasn't 400lbs. :p For $2K, it was a great starter value.

Have you taken the MSF? It's a easier to choose a bike when you've had even just two days of parking lot experience on a bike under your belt versus none.

Dirt rocks. More fun than pave, and it makes you a safer rider. Dualsports tend to be tall, but they also tend to be light; they take drops better than most street bikes and are easier to pick up.

Lorrie, Welcome are you tired of your M3.
I recommend a Ninja 250.

:laughing I am certainly not tired of my M3 ... in fact for my birthday I got $2k+ suspension for it as a present! I am sooo excited because I am definitely taking it to the track this time ... but I am seriously looking into a bike.

I know this may sound insane to you guys, but most of my friends who own/ride bikes recommend the CBR 600 .... :wtf is that just completely insane or should I actually listen?
