Spyder Rentals on Sale

I have a few disabled friends that went to the Spyders. Seems that they fulfill a void-just today I was asked if the qualify for the diamond lane :dunno
I use dynabeads to balance my motorcycle tires. Consider my Dynabead usage before reading:

When the random left turner takes my arm or a leg or both. I expect to buy a Spyder.

When my one of my hips is worn out from making cross country moto trips, or the weight of my own beer filled ass is too much for that pesky ankle that got in the way of my bike lying down to take a rest at Carnagie, Pismo, or Hollister, or when the discs in my back finally act like Chet Donnelly and squirt like three gallons of puss in a 2 gallon zit pocket, and that stops me from being able to balance or deal with the weight of a motorcycle, I hope there are Sypder like bikes available.

Historical vehicles like the Ducati Muletto, MotoGuzzi Dingotre and MotoGuzzi Ercole, Yamahaulers, HD ServiCars can all be inspiration.

Conceptual drawings have all been leaked/shared to gauge public interest from all of the major manufacturers, and it won't be long before CanAm has some competition. Christ, BMW is making an automatic scooter for world and US consumption.

With the number of veterans we are creating forcing democracy and feeding our need for oil, perhaps they could be considered so they can feel the bugs in their teeth and rain in the crotch of their Aerostitch, before it is decided they're not cool.
For that use? Sure. But that's way different from most people getting them for fun.

Can Am does market to the disabled. When you search mods for these things mant are geared toward alternate hand and foot controls.

It's easy to poo poo something different and I do agree these are not motorcycles; however, they are an alternative and I can respect that.

So honestly the BRP Can-am spyder is not a motorcycle it's technically a reverse trike.
That said it's pretty much the closest you can get to a motorcycle if your disabled and cant Afford a whole bunch of custom modifications.
I hope to one-day ride one. Even better than that would be a Piagio MP3 or a http://www.tremoto.com/TreMoto/TreMoto.html
http://www.brudelitech.com/ All three of those countersteer and they are not motorcycles... So counter steering is not the definition.
It's my understanding that They were targeting an intermediate scooter crowd. Thrillseeking people that like the freedom of the open-air but are too intimidated to address the motorcycle immediately. Think of Powersports people snowmobiles seadoos Quads etc. That said not all three Wheeled vehicles are Reverse trikes or trikes, As in any side hack.

Bottom line is whatever works for you, I couldn't give a shit what you name it.:ride

This state, and many others, disagree with you Adam. They are motorcycles. The arguments contrary of this clear fact are little more than semantics.

Agreed Not quite sure what I was trying to say was more of a question... How much can you modify a bike before it stops being one?
Apparently wheel number four. Although I am interested to see if there's any four wheel vehicles that can take a motorcycle license.:dunno

The reality is that this state doesn't require you to have a motorcycle license to operate a three-wheeled vehicle. I'll agree it's a bit of a conundrum that probably should be rethought, but that's how it's written at the moment. Some states allow you to take your motorcycle skills test on a trike because their test isn't done the same way the one in California is. It may be much simpler for all I know. I've only had to take the one in California (via MSF) so I really have no first-hand knowledge on this.

Perhaps someone else took their test in another state and can chime in. :dunno

I know Washington has trike endorsements that are separate from moto endorsements.

Or at least they used to.

Yeah, it will vary from state to state. Personally I think there should be a certification process for these types of vehicles. It's such a different kind of riding. Takes 100-200 miles to get used to it for the first time.

FWIW, I have to register ours as motorcycles, and they are insured as motorcycles. And they do qualify for the HOV lane. And they really are a hoot to ride. Definitely not for everyone, but we love ours. It's actually nice to have the diversity of being able to ride both the FA and the Spyder.

it is a good deal, as long as you mostly pose on them. 200 mile limit for 8 hour rental?

i'm still considering it.

Where's the So Cal Rental Groupon's? :x

no groupon, but if you poke around on the website they have an LA/Newport beach location

furthermore, the Rates page has this interesting tidbit:

Los Angeles / Newport Beach Area:
20% off each day for a one-way rental for a Can Am Spyder Rental from LA/Newport Beach Area to San Francisco. Must complete the trip in no more than four days.

so, if i can make the trip in one day and the groupon price works down there??? almost worth calling to find out
