Stewarts Point General Store/Gas Closing

Bummer. It'll require a small extra planning, because there isn't much around that area.

@ DReg350
It is my understanding that all inventory goes on this Saturday.

Thanks! :thumbup Not sure I can make it. Meeting a freidn to dial in the suspension on the mule. We're gonna go for ride after, but not sure we'll have a enough time to get that far north during these short winter days. :(

So hope the place reincarnates to open it's doors on another day. :cry

Someone will buy it. The question is, how much and can barf afford it?

Lou, could be, the, barkeep.

Man I'm bummed. Where else am I going to eat a sandwich, drink a sugary drink, meet some old timer on a sweet bike and then lap Skaggs again? Also they have great bathrooms.

Dang.

I will miss the smell of that old building.

I can't quite shake the smell of some of the locals I met out on the porch, but we sure had some good conversations. :laughing

What a shame they're closing down, I thought it was much improved with the expanded deli last time I rode through there. And yes, hell yes, I always stopped in to buy something and take a piss.

I just may head up there Saturday if the forecast holds and I'm recovered from this cold. Maybe also a winery stop on Dry Creek after checking out Skaggs.

:ride

I stopped going to the Stewart's Point general store after they reopened with the new pumps. They never seemed to have any schedule so planning to use them as a stop was a bad idea. Most of the rides I do up there we wind up using Annapolis Rd because it's in better condition than the western part of Skaggs.

Alternatives Gas -
Jenner
Fort Ross (call ahead to see if they have gas)
Union 76 and Chevron in Gualala

Alternatives Food -
Gualala - Surf Market Deli, Bones Roadhouse + more
Fort Ross - General Store
Ocean Cove Store - beer + snacks
Jenner - River's End

What is your route across Annapolis road? I didn't think it went all the way across and you had to jump on some random dirt roads.

I usually skip Skaggs when going south and hit Annapolis - Skaggs West to Tin Barn - King Ridge - Cazadero Highway to 116. I don't mind the shitty part of Skaggs, just don't like the eastern side with all the ricky racers. And king ridge is one of my favorite roads in CA.

Terrible news. I went to one of the best weddings I've ever attended in the space above and behind the store. Been there since 1868 IIRC. Post office too. The Richardson's were good owners. The new folks seemed nice. Here's to hoping the landmark is preserved. Some cool stuff hanging in there, & wish I could make it for the liquidation.

Thanks for that route. I might check it out on my way home from Stewarts point this Saturday (if the weather cooperates)

Edit: Checked out street view on King Ridge.... wow. I'm going.

Last I was up there, it was patchy and gravely, but lots of fun.

That was in March, plenty of time for it to have been cleaned off.

I remember not too long ago the building's foundation was being renovated, that must have cost a few bucks. seems like there's always customers when I stopped by
