Stoned bus drivers - yet another road hazard

i guess it really doesn't matter wether folks think driving stoned is good or bad, it's still illegal to drive under the influence of any drug or alcohol, right?

just like its illegal to speed.

By driving impaired on public roads, one is "in charge of the safety of many many people."

I'm not arguing that, but if its your job to drive or fly people around then its your job to make sure that they get from point a to point b in the safest way possible and driving/flying while impaired is, well, just not so bright IMO.

The average joe/jane that tokes before takin off to the quickie mart is in charge of public safety but not to the extent that a bus driver is. If they wreck, in all likliehood its gonna be minimal in comparison to that if a bus driver or pilot wrecks. Neither is really acceptable but I seriously would rather come in contact with the joe/jane than the bus or plane.

"Study after study shows that marijuana's slight impairment on psychomotor skills generally falls within the range of safety we accept for prescription medications and other legal, potentially debilitating factors; the findings of this latest inquiry are no different."

"Falls within the range of safety we accept for prescription medications and other legal"

Legal adj., adv. according to law, not in violation of law, or anything related to the law.

You can get a DUI when taking certain prescription medications. I remember when I got my wisdom teeth pulled a yr. ago and had to take Vicodin (sp?). I worked only a mile away from home, but decided to walk anyways. (I did get hit by a car on the way though..'least I didn't feel any pain :laughing)

Seems to me that this discussion has way too variables, for either side to prevail. it really doesn't matter if a person smokes a blunt or has a cocktail, if they are intoxicated, it's against the law. Doesn't matter if a drunk person is more intoxicated than a person that's high, they're both not %100. To say that a stoned person driving a prius is less dangerous that a stoned driver behind the wheel of bus at full capacity is not right. That same prius driver could easily jump a curb, kill you, your spouse and children just as easily as bus. The only differance is with a car you might get to have an open casket.
i can see your point Psychochik about you rather dealing with a person that is stoned as opposed to being drunk, and i agree, but they are still intoxicated in one way or another. I for one think that any person operating anything should not be under influence of any drug, better to be safe than sorry right.

just my :2cents

FWIW it's illegal to drive even under the influence of prescription meds or too much nyquill for that matter.

I agree but you can be slightly intoxicated (.08 bac) get pulled over and not get sited, where as you can get pulled over after having smoked a bowl, be less impaired than the person that just drank two pints and get hauled off to jail. There is a level of fairness that isnt there. But I also understand that bud is illegal and beer is not, so I get that.

N e way, there are valid arguements for both sides and its been fun.

But I still say legalize it. :thumbup

The moral to the story is if you are gonna ride the shame train, always carry a clean towel.

good point.

Speaking of grammar, stones & glass houses:

I'm so glad your reading comprehension is so great! Without you, I'd have assumed that the quotations from your citations such as those below meant that THC causes impairment!

By the way, for someone who called out bad spelling a few posts ago, your spelling is on par with that of a seventh grader's. [ Let's not even touch on the grammar.<--fragment please revise]

Look, this is the internet, not a fucking spelling bee. I normally hate the grammar freaks on the net, but if you're going to call someone on it, spell check (and read 'The Elements of Style', [few things: when using quotation marks commas should be placed inside quotation marks not outside; also, when we cite the title of a work that stands alone as a single entity--i.e. a book, movie, magazine, newspaper, album, or play--we should use italics.] because your use of grammar is atrocious).

And you misspelled more than one word, by the way; for what that's worth.

:twofinger

Look, you stupid &(#$, ya live in a glass house?...

AND FTW... please review BARF policy on name calling in the TOS

rookies :rolleyes

Carry on...

"Wow! I definately spelt definitely wrong. Must be all the thc in my system. I still produced four(4) items to which no one, noone(just incase), has argued against. So, my point still stands. Weed is less harmful than booze and, you can safely drive under the influence of weed. Theres my proof, don't make me bust out the "Greg Brady" drving test just to show you all!"

Corrected: Wow! I definitely spelled definitely wrong. Must be all of the thc in my system. I still produced four(4) items to which no one nobody, delete for poor grammar, has argued successfully against. So delete the comma my point still stands. PS-I got stoned at lunch. Again"
