CASEY STONER
"Everything has gone very well, very positive. It's just nice to ride the 1000cc again, to feel the engine and the power. I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed the first day because everything we've tried seems to be working, so no complaints. The biggest disappointment is that Dani is not going be here to test as he is important to the development of this bike. I hope that soon HRC can get his input as well because we need as much data as possible, in order to be ready for next season. We didn't focus on anything special today, just tried to understand what the bike is doing, how it reacts on the brakes and things like that, also considering some the issues we have with the 800cc right now. The braking point seems to be stronger, stability in the front going into the corner seems to be very good, and of course we want to understand how the power delivery is, and it is very smooth so no problem . In general, we haven't changed too much from the set up we have on the 800cc right now and the feeling is very similar, so it's pretty good".

Welcome back, bottom-end torque. :laughing

even more torque than the 990...?? anyone ever get the bore of the RC211V, though that engine was a V5 so this 1000cc engine may have a longer stroke no matter wat.

wat a slap in the face for Dovi, not getting to ride the new engine even w/ Pedro hurt. seems that Honda makes these rider decisions years in advance and just slowly phases a rider out.

Dovi rides a different bike then dani and stoner. They built the first ones for them. In time he will or he will go to another team. Remember that the only reason there are 3 repsol bikes now is because of his contract and his manager raising hell with honda to stay on those colors.

i never really felt that is was morally right for Dovi & company to have to fight for what was already rightfully his as outlined by his contract.

in the postrace interview, Stoner claimed that all 3 of the Repsol riders are on different setups. Dovi aint the odd-man out in terms of machinery... it isnt that Dani and Stoner are soo similar that they will develop the bike better, they are jus favored inside the garage & management.

Their bikes are much mroe similar. Dovi has a radically different bike compared to the other 3 works hondas. He's using different parts compared to the others. Set ups are different but the basic bike is very similar between the otehr 3.

Stoner: former world champion
Pedrosa: many-times over race winner and perennial serious contender.
Dovi: gets beat in the championship by satellite guys?

I feel for the guy a bit. but that's how it goes. I didn't shed a tear when Honda forced Hayden out, and that situation was IMO worse than what they're doing to Dovi.

Dovi will be on supersic's or elias' ride next year,no need for his input.Stoner and Itoh should be able to handle it until pedorosa is healed

Elias will be gone. Prob to wsbk you'd think. Dovi will go there. Honda will prob keep ayoa cause he's Japanese. Marco will be on a full factory bike wherever he is

Elias will go back to dominating moto 2

I think Simoncelli could end up riding satellite again next year. Being fast is good, but he's still making a lot of mistakes and/or crashing out. He kind of seems like an earlier Lorenzo in that way (or Jonathan Rea, but faster).
It's could be only a matter of time before he's riding factory, but I don't know about next season.

i wonder how Elias would do in WSBK. anyone know if he has ever ridden on a SBK? seems like the soft-carcassed Pirellis would suit his "dont load the tires" riding style, but that dude is tiny even compared to Melandri. my vote is for him going back to Moto2 though.

just cuz the bike doesnt say Repsol on it, doesnt mean its not a factory bike. this topic has been very well covered in other motoGP threads.

When the title said stoner I was afraid there was going to be a guy taking bong rips then jumping on a 1000cc bike Im glad I was wrong..lol

marco is already on a full factory bike this year. that wont change. one crash into another rider isnt going to burn bridges. as JB has said before, you can teach a fast rider not to crash, but you cant teach a rider to be fast like that.

marco is similar to jorge and casey, crazy fast, but crashes. hes young, he just needs to reel it in a little bit.

that he isnt a afrid to crash speaks wonders about him, and he is very comfortable on the limit. thats the secret behind caseys genius too

Supersic kinda reminds me of Abe when he first burst onto the motogp scene, wild,a little reckless, and totally fearless.I think that's why I like him :laughing

Nice! I forgot about the hair, when Roberts made him cut it,he was slow.Maybe it's Abe's hair back from the grave.lol

There is a huge difference though. With the exception of 2006, Stoner doesn't crash when he is at the limit. Most of his crashes were when his lap times were well off the pace.

agreed. of course that could be counter pointed by marcos titles, which stoner didnt have. im not saying marco is better than stoner or anything, just that sicness follows a similar style. but more extreme. my point being that stoner WAS a crasher and rode over the limit. but as he matured the crashing stopped(for the most part) but the outright speed at comfortability at the limit is what makes him so good. simoncelli is just having two 2006's lol

stoner has his fair share of crashes though....
