Sturdy gauntlets: palm bunching inevitable?

I think crick hit the nail on the head -- these gloves just don't work with the geometry of my hands. I definitely do have long fingers and slender palms. I'll look in to having some custom fit gloves done.

crick: have you found any other brands that cater to our slender effeminate hand shapes?

I am putting my gloves on now and flexing. The gloves are bunching a little, but when my hands are on the bars, they prevent them bunching. The fabric folds at the base of my fingers, but I am not geting poked inside. These are the fleace-lined GoreTex AlpineStars gauntlet. I have longer than average fingers but my palm is probably average.

Here are my gloves: https://www.google.com/search?q=tec...7iwK6-IB4&sqi=2&ved=0CFsQsAQ&biw=1335&bih=779

I was an absolute train wreck on Vicodin; I don't understand how people get hooked on it.

Some people, like me, have the opposite reaction to Vicodin than most. It amps me up and gives me bad dreams and restless nights. Blame it on genetics. Luckily I have high tolerance for pain.

Even worse, have you ever had synthetic heroin? Jesus that shit is awful. The only benefit of it is that it makes you pass the fuck out so you don't feel anything. Idk why anyone would willing stick that shit in themselves

Kushitani, definitely. Japanese hands are like yours.

YES! I was over at roadriders and the Rev'it SLR's tend to be on the slightly narrower side, so the sized large gloves had a slightly narrower palms than say a* or racer brands. They had a bunch over at RoadRiders. I was very close to buying them until someone mentioned i check out Helimot.

if you check out helimot, make sure to talk to helmut. linda for some reason always seems hesitant/short about semi-custom gloves :/

Reli, do you know anyone local that carries them?

Gloves are probably too big. Try a size smaller. They should be semi snug and resting position of your hand shouldn't be completely flat. Your hand Should Have a very slight curve. The leather will stretch slightly.

try some revit gloves as well. but yea the ones you got on the the first pic are too big if the palms are bunching like that. if you got the money go and get helimots if not shop around and try on a bunch of different gloves youll find something that fits you.

The straight answer? That cut doesn't fit your hand. Not all glove manufacturers use the same cutting templates, and we are not talking about precision manufacturing here either. You may find slightly longer/shorter fingers or narrower/wider palm across samples that are of the same brand, model and size. Do you need to go "custom" for the best protection? No. Try a few more makes and sizes (or mix-n-match the same make and size from different pairs) before deciding.

I recently upgraded from some second hand well-worn Coretech shorty gloves to brand new Dainese Druids gauntlets. I'm happy to have the added protection but am struggling with the amount of bunching I'm getting under my palms. The entire glove is generally sturdier than the Coretech, which seems to be the case with most race style gauntlets

Is the bunching I'm experiencing characteristic of sturdier gloves in general, or is there a superior glove I should be looking at? I had originally purchased a medium but swapped for a large because the fingers weren't long enough to hold a fist, so going back to the medium is not an option. I realize I can't have my cake and eat it too, meaning I'm willing to give up some comfort to gain the protection. My question is weather I should seek other gauntlets, or if this is just an inherent tradeoff involved in getting better hand protection.

The bunching in these pictures is just rediculous...You need to do the bunching test, before you buy Gloves.

And with all the other features to look for..When You find a set that says Yes Buy them.

Problem Solved

I went in to Cycle Gear today today to return the gloves. In the process I tried on the "4 Stroke" model, which is like a short version of the full-metal pro. To my surprise the palm actually didn't bunch as badly as the Druids. The palm is made up of more pieces of leather, and some of it is suede, which seems to bunch less.

Anyway, I'm just posting this in case anyone else runs in to a similar problem and wants to explore this option. Oh, and Cycle Gear is doing 15% off Dainese stuff for black friday.

that's awesome to hear!

for most fitting issues, like helmots, gloves, jackets, etc, it really takes trying em on and trying out a bunch or going custom to get the right fit.
